Quote: Yes, it and another one *just* like it were pipped internally for well over 24 hours. I have since hatched them one is doing *okay* with a nice, clean umbilicus, the other is very weak and dehydrated with angry looking umbilicus. Three other eggs have very strange problems that I can't explain due to my lack of communication skills, lol, but I will try to get some pictures of them.

My Genesis thermometer seemed to be off so i run it at 101 to get 99.5.-100.I use a scientific thermoneter too i calibrate before the hatch.. so how pray tell the last 3 hatches were late?.day 21 get one pip.Day 22 or 23 get a few chicks.Last hatch got more chicks
up to day 25.So early morning of day 23 was today.Got 2 chick hatch unaided and one i assisted had been piped since night of day 21..3 chicks 13 eggs to go but i think they are done.Air cells slightly smaller than should have been..temp even whole hatch.humidity ran 27 la st week.25-35 whole hatch.. 65 from day 18 ..what happened? 2 seemed wet or had yellow clear goo in shell after hatch. and assisted was very gooey.Ive never had high humidity before.but sure looks like it.I think i have bad hatch karma..lol

I am again having issues with humidity and I am running dry until hatch time, I had wet chicks last time, red hocks and yellow jello in the shells, gross!

Here goes...... Results are in

Weights day 18 EYE vs WEIGH

PLEASE NOTE the two highest losses are in fact older eggs, and some of the least loss are fresh out of the nest eggs.

My Conclusion....
Shooting for 15% day 18 is what my eye is looking for, HOWEVER, its important to always keep in mind the age of the eggs and size of the air cells. I did notice two are a bit too big for my liking, example, second on the list should have had humidity, but when you have a batch of mixed aged eggs, I will have to shoot for the majority and if I am only setting fresh eggs, run as dry as possible and older eggs I may possibly have to add depending on room humidity.

I know it's pipped, lol, it's the size and the shape of the air cell that concerned me. No angle, no dip, it was like it was straight down the centerline of the egg.

I have had them like that from shipped eggs, what I ment to say was pippers! as in yay pippers, I know darn well u know an internal silly! ha ha ha

I've just set my first shipped eggs today. 16 mixed eggs from @chickenpox flock. The eggs arrived a day early, only one slightly cracked, and all the air cells look good, a few aren't quite round. But none seem broken. They are all very small as indicative of very fresh eggs.
I'm hoping they turn out well. I've got them set up in egg cartons with holes cut in the bottoms, In a food dehydrator since the 17 mixed eggs from my own flock are in there awaiting lockdown tomorrow. In the dehydrator I also have 13 of my own eggs. That way I can truly know the dehydrator is working. As I know my eggs have 100% fertility.
