hi sally .. was trying to catch up ... you are so great at helping others ... and a late merry christmas to everyone !!

I donot know the next steps...Ok I will not sleep..good thing I fell asleep for an hour earlier...what are the next steps? She is still chirping n her beak is moving

well waiting at least the 6-8 hrs LMAO!!!

IF NO FURTHER pipping...... After that time.... or only a small amount of pipping....

you will need to pip..... NEVER BELOW YOUR AIR CELL PENCIL MARK!!

I always just wash my hands really good and use my nail to pip around its best with breaking tiny pcs off, its ok if you go through the outer membrane as long as your ABOVE that air cell! just like the pic above!!

Then up humidity and wait some more... if in 2 hrs no more progress, take that top off ABOVE THE air cell pencil mark ONLY!

Then you will see this.....
BUT hopefully not the blood in these pics as this was a chick who was chirping but never did an internal pip....

just showing you the membrane before wetting and after wetting...

IF YOU SEE BLOOD STOP wrap up put back in bator
DO NOT REMOVE THIS INNER MEMBRANE WITH THOSE VIENS UNABSORBED, if you see this, it also means the YOLK is not yet absorbed either

wrap and put back in bator!!

While they are absorbing its a pretty quiet time for a chick and this is the time when most people freak out...they are weak they are weak... naaaa they are just absorbing.... you will see them opening and closing their mouths sleeping resting and occationally youll see them acting like they are pipping, and a few chirps hear and there.....

WHEN THEY ARE READY they will chirp LOUD! BUT ONLY GO BY THAT MEMBRANE and its veining!! AGAIN IF YOU REMOVE THAT MEMBRANE too soon they can kick out and not be completely absorbed and they can easily get infection in navals and die in a few days!!

Ok so the air cell holds the air while in the shell, now I feel dumb... so it is ok to pip open her head? as in the pic that would be all the space to the right? In the fat end of the egg? The other side holds blood and yolk for her to absorb?

Ok..she is doing this now then, she has been opening and closing her mouth and pecking a little and making a few chirps. I know she is going to make it...she was chirping in the egg when I picked it up to candle. See the other one did not do that...unless it was absorbing ugg still feel awful. I am taking in all the info though...thank you very much Sally
