I love these TOO!!!Destiny or fate
awwwww (ok this is stupid I am sure but what does DH stand for? lol also is there a way to open threads at the last unread pages instead of the first page everytime?) I am on my 3rd cup!! I need to slow down!! lolThat's what Kismet means. I saw you asked and didn't read the rest of the postsI was still on my first coffee of the day!![]()
I had a hen called Kismet, a.k.a. Kissymet. Long story short, she was hatched from a very special hen's eggs and we really battled to get one of her chicks, so when she hatched I asked my DH to think of a special name.
Thanks for the advise!! I just posted in the PA section fingers crossed someone has some this time of year!!! and thank you!!! I think we are on the same day no? this is day 11 for the little guy! Did you say how your candle went? I forget ! so much reading lol!Sally so glad you have a baby coming !! YEA!!!Exciting.... but also you should see if you can find someone with another baby that will be really close to this ones age so it wont be alone. They really need contact with other chicks and you think you wont have any but this one![]()
I dont mean get one yet... i mean line somebody up now .What day are you on.?
Also I really like your notes and graphs .Nice.
Later you will be so happy to have something to look back what happened on this hatch or that.Wish I had done that myself.!!Should start now guess its not to too late.Day 11.
Howd the chicks fair last night? Its getting cold here too!! all mine went to roost early last night! lol woosies@!Put my 4 amd 5 week old chicks out in the new coop for their first night out. WAAAHHHH
Worried it will be too cold. They all have their feathers though
Going down to 60 here.
Wish i had put a hole for a light bulb in the coop Guess i still could tomorrow. Going in the 50s later in the week for lows.!!!They are use to higher temps.... like 80.They peeped a while but got quiet once it got dark Arent use to dark either .Had to leave the lights on in the bathroom where thye were for the other younger chicks heat.![]()
My guy who is alive is one that I DIDNT SEE anything!! no air cell so dont give up on those!!Thanks for all the input! The aircells don't appear to be scrambled, just a tad larger than I thought they should be and were moving all around when I candled them...perhaps I will give them til tomorrow noon and put them in rather than waiting the whole 24hrs. If I don't turn them in the bator it'l probably allow them the same opportunity to reattach, no? I've got 14 BLR Wyandottes, and it seems about 10 are detached( I did think it was 12 of the 14 at first but two I'm not sure now, since I can't see the sacs that distinctly so maybe those two are scrambled, come to think of it...the 10 I'm certain are detached but intact. Luckily I've got another full bator I set last week and 15 more eggs that were to go in this set that are in great shape (yes, quite the addiction I've got going, lol).
I've been thinking a lot about the whole chick getting stuck thing, and maybe I'll try not moving them for as long as the embryo stays relatively small inside the egg, then once it gets to start filling out the egg, when maybe the risk of stuck chick is more significant, I'll start turning? Does anyone have a strong feeling about what day that might be? This is assuming they get that far of course, fingers crossed!
YAYYAYAYYA!!!! Go peepers GO!!! HOW EGGsiting!! yippy!! pics as soon as you got them!!! oh I cant wait!!!I am about to hatch my first batch of shipped eggs and first incubation experience. I had 15 to start and locked down 9 and 3 have external pips this morning.![]()
I went the settle outside for 12 hrs as I didn't want them to age anymore route. Then set upright in the bator in cut down egg cartons. Started turning day 4. At this point I put them in the bator normal. I wish I had left them in the cartons as some of the air cells I think were still wobbly. I have very weird shaped aircells. Hindsight is 20/20 right?.
so much great information on this thread! Can't wait to meet your miracle survivor.![]()
Hey, been trying to keep up with this thread! You can look at first unread posts by clicking on the little envelope with the arrow (right next to it says go to first unread post). DH just means darling husband or .... **** husband... I guess it depends! How's your dog with the pups doing? I just had to put my 15 year old golden/irish setter down yesterday. Kinda bummed, but your thread cheers me up. Capt. Bling waves *hi* at ya...I had to buy 2 more day olds for him to hang with and they are all doing very well. DH says that Capt. Bling is the most spoiled he's ever seen. When you say peep peep to the brooder box he comes a runningawwwww (ok this is stupid I am sure but what does DH stand for? lol also is there a way to open threads at the last unread pages instead of the first page everytime?) I am on my 3rd cup!! I need to slow down!! lol
