It could... are you using a still air or forced air incubator? Move it a bit and check again in a few minutes.

I was just wondering... We had a hatch in a forced air homemade incubator and the humidity was very high in one spot, just above the water bowl. A friend of mine explained that it had something to do with the direction the air was circulating and the placement of the water. Drowned a poor chick on that spot

When she pipped through the shell water poured out! I was amazed she got so far and survived, but she died in the shell.

...

I will dbl check but I don't think anyone is directly on the water wells. I have everyone arranged with the windows which are a hair further out than most of the water wells.

They should be O.K. The incubator we used was a really carp design, I must say. DH ended up practically rebuilding the thing and it wasn't even ours, we did the hatch and the improvements for a friend.

I just thought of that incident now when I read your post. Good luck with the hatch! I can't wait for mine to go into lockdown. Only...16 days to go

Hey 3D... That is her oil gland right above her tail. They use the oils from that gland to preen & clean. It also helps protect their feathers for weather. Sounds like she's doing a great job maintaining her beautiful white feathers!

Oh wow. It looks just like two little feather peg things that she has picked off... it was green once but it's not anymore. Kind of bright pink. That's interesting. She kind of nibbles at them and then rubs her head on them. She only picks at them when she's preening too. :3

Hahaha I know what you mean..we had days like that here in NH you can feel your nose hairs freeze ...So excited for you to get your eggs! I am glad you found some..Hope wont even know what to do once she has new friends, she will probably peck at em..thats what mine do

Get her a buddy or give her even more attention. I raised a lone chick once. He drove me crackers wanting attention and cuddles all the time, but he grew into the most amazing rooster. It's a pain, but it's worth it!
Aww does he still go up to you for cuddles? :3 Hope doesn't really look for cuddles, but loves being beside me- or dust bathing on me when I watch TV. XD

My son says to me this morning" and you didn't believe in Coco that she would hatch all her chicks"

Coco cracked those babies out like she was a pro lol ..her first clutch 100% hatch rate. Although only 3, all 3 hatched and are healthy. Peeking out from under mama as if they have their own little tunnels under there.
Never a dull moment at my house!

Awwww. I doubt Hope will ever become broody. :(
