I have got another egg! It is from my neighbor who has amazing looking chickens! I posted some pictures of them on a thread I made earlier. The thing is that the egg is from chickens whose conditions concern me. Some of the hens have poopy- looking bums, and this summer I saw that some of them had orange-yellow looking poo, (it was foamy looking) so I am concerned that maybe the egg has a disease....? I might separate it in my incubator, but is it a good idea? All the eggs are on day 5 right now. And the egg I got is 100% clean (unless they washed it). It is pale brown and I think it came from a hen they hatched last spring.

I want to hatch it though.

My opinion on that is if you don't have an extra incubator to use for a hatcher then a staggered hatch is probably not a good idea.

My poor sickly chick that I thought for sure was going to die this morning at 4am is kicking around the brooder with the rest of the peeps. The only way i can tell it apart is it still has a chunk of gunk stuck to its back.

Its amazing how we can spend a whole night trying to rescue something with a monetary value of a few dollars at best.

Its nice to be around people like this!
