Well I joined the hatch along for easter but with this last batch that hatched I got busy trying to keep my little Cream Legbar Roo alive and forgot to set eggs on the 9th...will I be forgiven if I had to flake on this hatch along? So sorry ...

ok! Here are this mid-morning pics. This mornings pre-coffee splint just popped right off.
The awesome thing that happened is her outter toe on her good leg finally sprung out correctly and now she can stand upright on one leg!
And hop!

The next awesome thing that happened is I finally asked my friend who is a vet, she is always saying 'why don't you call me' but I feel like it's taking advantage... Anyway She is going to check out Peg for me at a discount. With the caviat that she doesn't normally treat tiny chickens...

I will see if she can help me rig the proper support, and I'm printing the chicken podiatry pages to bring for her to view, bringing a healthy cochin, and healthy non-feather chick, and my splinting kit...

This might be a silly question but ive been candled my duck eggs one shipped & the others from my duck and ive noticed a dark dot growing in the small end of the egg, in the shipped & some of the others. is that their waste?

Hi everyone thank you all for the kind posts was long night but couldn't save him. He had not been growing like the others ?? Don't know why he hatched himself fluffed nice but wouldn't eat it drink don't know why ...sorry for the short post ... Again thank you and welcome all the new peeps hope everyone is doing ok will come back soon

I bought a cochin chick, I call her tiny, I think she is splash but she is 1/4 the size of all the others and they are now 2.5 months old she is the size of a 2 week old chick and has no feathers on her rear! just wing feathers, I dont have the heart to cull her and thought she would die as the red lamp took a crap and I am not sure how long the other day! but she is still ok so I dont get it! its weird! I havent researched much on her yet and she has her buds so I dont want to separate her either. I will get a pic sometime, its cold again here! one day its warm the next its snowing!!!

Is she with different breeds? Is she LF, or could she be bantam? I'm just starting to get into bantam cochins and they are tiny. Mine are 2 months old and I could see them being compared to a LF chick at 2 or 3 weeks. Also, 3 of those chicks still don't have feathers on their rears and 6 of them still have bare backs.
