Ducks! but I just fell in love with Blue copper marans and CREAM LEGBAR

I am so over brooding ducklings. They are 5 weeks now and just starting to feather out. They stink and the flies love their brooder box. I am so ready to move them out to the big pen where they can mess in the water all they want...and rant ends...

I have been debating some more hatching but I think I am going to wait until the spring.

, time we will brood them in the house! They are MESSY!!! and they grow very fast, but need the heat longer than chicks. One thing we found out that may help if you decide to do it - we used shredded paper under a layer of wood shavings in the brooder. It really soaks up the moisture and keeps down the stink and flies. It still needs to be changed every day or two depending on the size of the brooder, but it made it easier. Good luck if you do try.

Yeah they are super messy...a LOT more work than chicks imo, I had Muscovy's that I rescued and they weren't that much fun honestly. Not as personable as chickens, but maybe another breed would be different. I would not want to be stuck with ducklings inside all winter
