Great pictures!! I have another question for you all... I've read over your diary on incubating and there are so many people everywhere that swear by their methods. I know room size, temp, etc. has a lot of influence on hatch rates. May I describe my room and get opinions on humidity rates I should aim for? Our house is very moist. I'm not in the position this time of year to run out and buy a dehumidifier. We actually have a sump pump that continuously runs under our house to give you an idea of what I'm dealing with. I have a new hova-bator and was able to keep it at 95.5-100.3 consistently @ 55% humidity on a trial run with both plugs in. This was filling the first chamber with water. The humidity in the room runs 60-70%. I've been reading dry hatch methods and wonder if this might be a better idea for me. l suggestions welcome!

If it were me I would try taking the plugs out and letting the well go dry. See what that leaves your humidity. I like it around 45%.

I need advice!! Ugg I am so tired today

my little eggs kept me up all night. I forgot what it was like to be a mama..lol OK so I fell asleep and temps were stable then in the middle of the night until morning they got as high as 102! Is this ok? I kept making holes in the styrofoam (which seemed to do nothing) so I kept opening the lid and then temps would go down to 100. I have a digi thermometer and one I lay on the eggs bought at Agway. Both are reading the same. I can not imagine doing this for 20 more days ...I feel I should have just bought an expensive incubator.
I have a homemade still air one that worked great without the thermostat ... and 102 wont hurt them usually... didnt hurt mine! regulating the temp without the thermostat can be tricky but it can work without it ... hatched 9/14 my first hatch in it .. of the 5 that were left -3 were infertile and the other 2 stopped at around week 1 ...

We have the incubator in our bedroom, which is the coolest room in the house. I was thinking maybe the temp of the room increased by our body heat? 2 adults and a dog sleeping in the room...because temps today are back down to 100
oh my goodness yes!

I would do the "dry inc" method! PLUS REMOVE A PLUG!! I keep both mine out unless I want to add just a tad of humidity, then I only add one plug....

I ONLY add water if it goes BELOW 30% and I dont want it about 45% the first 18 days...then up to 60-62

Did you read through the info I posted for Kelly? back a few posts

THIS IS A GREAT ARTICLE https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/how-to-incubate-hatch-eggs-using-the-dry-incubation-method

Heyyy guys! Sorry I haven't posted anything recently... I read all the posts but I don't have any bators running or problems with my birds so I haven't had much to say! Lol.. But yeah dry incubation has worked best for me too, but I've only incubated a few times so I really don't have much of a say haha. I agree with anything Sally and silver and sumi are sayin cause they're like pros! Haha :)
