One Billion Dollars! Mwahahahahaha
I have a homemade still air one that worked great without the thermostat ... and 102 wont hurt them usually... didnt hurt mine! regulating the temp without the thermostat can be tricky but it can work without it ... hatched 9/14 my first hatch in it .. of the 5 that were left -3 were infertile and the other 2 stopped at around week 1 ...I need advice!! Ugg I am so tired todaymy little eggs kept me up all night. I forgot what it was like to be a mama..lol OK so I fell asleep and temps were stable then in the middle of the night until morning they got as high as 102! Is this ok? I kept making holes in the styrofoam (which seemed to do nothing) so I kept opening the lid and then temps would go down to 100. I have a digi thermometer and one I lay on the eggs bought at Agway. Both are reading the same. I can not imagine doing this for 20 more days ...I feel I should have just bought an expensive incubator.![]()
oh my goodness yes!We have the incubator in our bedroom, which is the coolest room in the house. I was thinking maybe the temp of the room increased by our body heat? 2 adults and a dog sleeping in the room...because temps today are back down to 100
Thanks EVEryone... adding the rest of the picture in a bit....Sally that is such an adorable picture of your chicks with Santa!![]()
I would do the "dry inc" method! PLUS REMOVE A PLUG!! I keep both mine out unless I want to add just a tad of humidity, then I only add one plug....Great pictures!! I have another question for you all... I've read over your diary on incubating and there are so many people everywhere that swear by their methods. I know room size, temp, etc. has a lot of influence on hatch rates. May I describe my room and get opinions on humidity rates I should aim for? Our house is very moist. I'm not in the position this time of year to run out and buy a dehumidifier. We actually have a sump pump that continuously runs under our house to give you an idea of what I'm dealing with. I have a new hova-bator and was able to keep it at 95.5-100.3 consistently @ 55% humidity on a trial run with both plugs in. This was filling the first chamber with water. The humidity in the room runs 60-70%. I've been reading dry hatch methods and wonder if this might be a better idea for me. l suggestions welcome!
