Ok... I'm so glad that I am testing my new incubator. It's prooved to be quite the challenge with humidity. With no water and a plug out, it falls between 18-21%. I've beens testing what each of the chambers will register after filling with water. So far, I've figured out what I need to fill to get it between 35-45% and now I'm trying to reach 65% for lockdown. I know there is more allowance on humidity. I'm trying all different combinations four a couple hours at a time. If I don't leave my plug / plugs in, the humidity drops. Am I making too much out of this? Lol! I have a diagram and all kinds of charting going on... Feels like a science project.

If the chambers alone dont give you a good 65% then add a moist paper towel. Although when I do that it shoots the humidity way up. So what I did last time was place a dry folded paper towel on the screen and then as humidity needs to be added I drop warm water on it from the vent holes. I had a hard time keeping the humidity up this last hatch with the air so dry from the heater. This was in addition to using aquarium tubing to add more water to the large chamber.

Thanks! It looks like its reading 67% with both chambers (1 & 2) filled. I'm going to do one more test run on filling the middle chambers and see what I get. Now my problem is, going from where I've found my 35% to 67% without having to take it all down to get my 67% does that make sense?

Quote: I always feed outside in the run due to the meanies, they will guarded the door and not let anyone in. I feed all babies later in the coop while everyone is out free ranging. They see me coming and the babies start a running after me.

Yes, chickens can have blue, grey, green, hazel, amber, yellow, orange, red, brown or black eyes. And talking about colours and eyes, a recent study found chickens can see colours better than humans!
