We got babies! 2 hatched this morning! One is on its way..and 2 have no activity as of now...but I know they were alive and moving before lockdown soooo within the next few days!

What do you guys recommend for a candle-to-remove-bad-eggs day? I have heard from the 10th to the 14th day for a first cut. I don't think I would be removing many but there were three that I wasn't sure were developing or may have been quitters when I candled on day 7.

Hey everyone... I have a question! What is the longest you have set eggs before hatching?

Heresmy reasoning... We are moving February 1st. Right before we move, I plan on worming the chickens because they will most likely quit laying for a while after the move anyway. My plan was to collect eggs 10 days before worming them so I can fire up the incubator at the new place. Ahh... The addiction! However, I was thinking about dating and collecting eggs starting tomorrow to see what my hatch rate is for longer. I know they say 7 days is optimum and I was pushing it at 10 days, BUT... what do you think? Would I just be wasting my time. I have 41 spaces I can fill and set newest eggs first... Hmmm? Opinions?

10 days should be O.k. still. If you store them carefully and turn them etc. I think I put a link for storing eggs on here at some point, but here it is anyway:

I can't believe you want to fit hatching eggs into settling at your new house! Or maybe I do... hatching addict LOL

I had a dream last night that one of my hens secretly went broody and hatched chicks without me knowing about it! I was stressing out in the dream about DH freaking out about six extra chicks.

I already have 22 in the bator sooooo...

Thank goodness! I'm not the only one dreaming of hatching chicks!
