My son says to me this morning" and you didn't believe in Coco that she would hatch all her chicks"

Coco cracked those babies out like she was a pro lol ..her first clutch 100% hatch rate. Although only 3, all 3 hatched and are healthy. Peeking out from under mama as if they have their own little tunnels under there.
Never a dull moment at my house!

That is some serious sweetness! Good momma.

Sally-what is my bulletin board? I just saw an email that said you posted something. So not good with this stuff.

Oh and in a couple weeks I am going to worm everyone and will shake all the eggs you want then as they are getting tossed anyway.

Good idea! After the move I'm worming too. I'll join ya chicksooner. Sorry for the delay on this one Sally, I'm collecting to hatch all I can before the shock of the move and then the delay of the worming.

She is a pro! 100% hatches are rare. Only one of my hens ever managed that. Well done Coco! And CUTE!!

Hey Sally,

I was wondering if you or anyone has a checklist for gathering eggs to hatch...well for example.
  1. gather "x" number of eggs for incubator
  2. candle mark air cell
  3. number eggs
  4. date eggs going into incubator ...etc..something like that...

reason I'm asking is I didn't do any of that when I first started, then I saw your spreadsheet and saw the way you tracked the eggs and thought "ah ha!" I should've done that...so with all your wonderful knowledge and articles on the hatch process I wondered if you and other experienced hatchers had advice for us beginners??

Click on "My Profile", top left corner. When your profile page is open look on the right hand side. That's where your bulletin board is

since we do staggered hatches I dont even use that any more, I actually found that using pencil on the eggs is the best way to remember who is who and when is when! lol I started to right the date on them, INSTEAD of an X and use the date for turning, Harmony still does it that though, I dont weigh and candle anymore either, I just mairk cells and keep an eye on them. I right what bread, and any notes write on the eggie!! LOL I use the question mark alot, lol so I know who seemed infert and such..... And this way with the date on them, I just look up at the calendar to see where there at!

Wow. Just went to check the eggs and humidity is reading at almost 70! It's only day 18. Do I need to let some of that out????

It's also possible I put the hydrometer too close to the water well, would that change my reading?
