Quote: I know what she means, I got the first time I hatched Marans, It's when there leg is sprawled out to the side and no mater what you do the joint is locked and won't even be able to be taped, I associated it to the chicks being to big, and in the shell to long, I had to help both the ones I hatched like this and both time I put them down, because I was unable to get them to go in place. I think this is what she is talking about.

Did you read through some of those links Mich? I cant imagine trying to shove it back into position! I didnt read to the end to see if it worked though! Betta just had to try this with her adult turkey hen. She ended up putting her down.

No, the agent gave us some vague directions, but he said it's tricky to find. The castle was nice though

We have a viewing booked for tomorrow, late morning.
Are you viewing the castle or your potential abode. If you take the castle, I will sublet a room once the kids can travel :)

I put 12 well shaken ebay buff orps in a genesis i picked up for nothing 48 hrs ago. I will start turning on Saturday. In it I have the temp probe of the digital thermostat I am using for one of my supa-dupa-3-story-bators I plan to build with my sisters kids this Sunday. The Genesis is amazing for holding temps. It has not moved more than 0,4 degrees since it warmed up.

Here we go again

Well, I ended up culling the poor thing. I checked out the links that were provided. The first picture was the same as this chick. The right foot stayed above the right wing and it wasn't holding it there, it was locked... by a tight tendon I suppose, which was out of the groove. I couldn't get it back in. The info on the link said it went fairly easily, not so this bird.

Well, I'm a breeder and I can't keep anything like that around. I hate culling chicks. Heck, I hate culling them at any age but I realize that it is necessary.

Thanks to all of you for your help.

I'm sorry to hear that. It is one of the negatives if not the only negative of hatching and raising chicks. Losing some of them.
