I just called on my chicks this morning to give them my final death toll; out of 25 I had 8 die as of a few hours ago. (Each day I loose one or two!) It really makes you, as a buyer, feel guilty for ordering them in the first place. I am so glad I had the foresight to order 10 extras just for warmth. You expect the hatchery to take the needed precautions with heat packs, extra chicks or bedding, delaying shipping, etc. I found out from the PO that when the truck came in on Friday morning the driver did not bring the chicks inside right away, he completely unloaded the truck leaving the chicks outside in the freezing temps. (That was the only day we had temps below freezing that week too!) My PO lady was not very happy with him for not taking the time to walk 5 feet into the building and putting them inside. What is wrong with people?! I am hoping we will NOT loose anymore.I know, just a major lesson learned.... now I dont know how they will deal with replacements or cash refunds.... monday comes soon enough Thanks everyone

Good luck with your survivors Sally. (I have not finished reading your posts so I am not updated on their status.)
