duds like I said! he just dont listen.... I have a stash I am collecting since friday in the garage and I went to add a silkie and there he put another one from the layer pen in!!  WTheck will I do with them if they hatch! I cant sell a mixes. I dont think its worth it

Sounds like he needs his own Hatcher! LOL!!

The incubator is up and running at the school. My eggs arrive tomorrow (darnit, they'd better) but too late for me to put them in the incubator, so the whole thing has to wait until Wednesday. Which I suppose is for the best considering I should let them sit fat end up for a while before I stick them in to cook.

wed is best day for school hatches - allows for earlies and lates

One out of 22 hatched and 2 more zipping. I moved the bators into the living room for this hatch due to temp fluctuations in the other place I usually put it. The bedrooms are right off of this living room.

Long night of endless chirping in our future.

Yeah, it's still frustrating. I'd have liked to set Tuesday, but I do agree that Wednesday really is the best day for setting at school.

Late yesterday evening 2 hatched, 1 pipped but didn't make progress and another hatched this morning. I just finished helping last night's pip about 15 minutes ago. It's drying off in the incubator now. No sign of life from the remaining 2 eggs. I'll post pics as soon as I've charged the camera.

Quote: ummmmm no cause he would take the coolerbator he and Harmony made!! LOL
Quote: yes I figured I couId sell their eggs for other local hatchers because a few hatch mutts just because they are addicted to hatching, but I guess I could set a few and see if I can sell them on CL and FB Groups. A plus is that I have a Blue Partridge & Gold Partridge Roo in with my girls as a backup for my brahma pen. I started working on my chicken and swap pages getting ready for when I have enough tested eggies! https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/sally-sunshines-chickens-swaps-and-shhhtuff I do need to take more pics but too darn cold!

Sumi I hear there is a really good article that may help you with those two remaining eggies https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/step-by-step-guide-to-assisted-hatching

I hear you

I tapped the remaining eggs. One's quiet and the other one gave me an earful! So, if all goes well, 5 out of 6 eggs. NOT bad!

And talking of the article. I kicked myself this morning for not having the camera charged for pics of the membrane etc. Sorry! I'll be better prepared new time.

Was thinking of you when I read this:

Weekends often pose a problem for teachers incubating eggs at school. They sometimes take the incubators home (placing the eggs into egg cartons and wrapping them to keep them warm when traveling back and forth), especially the 1st weekend. Some teachers have found leaving incubators unattended during 2-day weekends has had little affect. Often the effect of not turning the eggs may be much less than that of the jostling, jarring, and possible temperature changes involved in taking the eggs home.
