I've talked the weekend problem over with the teacher, as well as did some research on BYC. We've got the incubator in the science room, which remains heated/cooled all night and on weekends. She'll be turning the eggs morning, lunch, and before she goes home every day, and we'll leave them on weekends, except for when she's in town. Then she'll stop in and give them a turn.
I've got a whole little packet typed up on egg incubation and development, as well as a cheat sheet for quick reference for her.

What a morning. I am up to 6 chicks out of 22. They keep on coming.

yesterday we finished up our rooster bachelor pads and in all my brilliance I did not attach down the tops. We lost one of our black cockerels to a raccoon last night. So DH is going to be doing some hunting this next weekend when he gets back in town and I am securing the other cages properly. I am kicking myself.

22 - now 25. one of those extra 3 can make up for the cockerel. chicken math.

Chicken math...:D I really should have counted them when i moved them to the hatch-a-bator.

Every hatch brings me something new. I had a chick earlier that did not zip its hole big enough so it was stuck. Thankfully the humidity was 80% so i had no problem opening and pulling him out to take a chunk of shell off and return him quickly.

I got my shipment in from McMurray! Still trying to figure out half the chicks breeds though.

I have two like this little one.

Two like this one... (about three shades darker than the one above in person)

Mystery Chick #1. This fuzzy is the only one like this in the whole box.

Mystery Chick #2; also a stand alone chick. There is a grey spot between his/her shoulderblades.

And I am leaning Black Giant but I am not sure. I have 4 others just like her.

I did a day 11 candle since the eggs are finally developed enough to tell, and it looks like, out of the 21, there are 2 inferts. And 1 quitter- all the other 18 are developing perfect! :D
