I think if you could record a hen on the nest and then chick chatter people would buy the CD!

Of course people would buy that. Next project?

Hi Sally, I hope you forgive me for posting this in here but i could really use your advice.

I have 6 shipped eggs that are several hours into day 23 of incubation. I don't see any internal or external pipping. I don't see any motion when candling or hear chirping.

I did the float test tonight, no motion was seen but they all float just above the surface of the water.

I'm not sure what I should do at this point. Is there any utility to creating an artificial pip to "take a look". Or do you think this hatch is pretty much over?

of the 6 eggs, 5 are white leghorn eggs, 1 is a back copper maran.

Of the eggs that hatched already with this batch, 1 hatched on day 20 and 9 others hatched a few hours later on day 21. I'm now several hours into day 23.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Rob

I am not as good as Mrs. Sally at this, but if they are floating low in the water right where only their air sacs are above, then they are probably alive. Was there any veining when you candled, or bumps in the air sac membrane where their beaks could be? We're the other eggs that hatched from the same shipment? I would not suggest artificially pipping the shell quite yet, if you believe they are alive. I don't think the hatch is over, they still have quite a chance of hatching. Good luck! :fl
