did you wash your eggs or wipe them?I started out with 48 eggs from my backyard chickens and I know that only a few of them were not fertile I am down going into lockdown with 27 I am wondering why so many did not make it to this? A couple were in fertile and the rest either had a blood ring or just died early is this normal for this many to not make it this far or am I doing something wrong?
So 19.5 days ago I received 12 Buff Orpington eggs in the mail all the way from TN. I wanted to see how to deal with USPS eggs as a large number of my Easter Egg run will be coming from the mid west and the south.
12 arrived, at 10 days I had 2 clears and 1 blood ring. The air cells were all over the place. I incubated them for 4 days upright and then in a turner. I am really unsure how many are viable - they are so hard to tell with huge saddled air cells so I through all nine into lock down. This afternoon I had 5 pipping and in a still air hatching bator. It looks like I have some more chicks to unload.
i could see nothing in the olive egg i got once. it turned into a weeping stinker. i am scared of them nowI also threw the unknown in lockdown! those shipped ameracaunas. I cant see in a few and the air cells are so saddle shaped and fluid like, I tried to see if I could get them to move the air cell at least and I got nothing.... so today they went in anyway! I think I saw 6 with life. I swear blue eggs are worse than marans!!![]()
wonderful! i have similar plans for my brooders for the next hatch
