Oh, and I candled my eggs for the Easter Hatch-a-long last night. It was day 4 and out of 11, I saw veining in 8.

2 of them had ruptured air cells and one of those began seeping so I took it out. The other isn't developing, but I leave it in for a bit longer and the last one was too porous to see into.
you candled? wait what day is this? I think we set sat? oh lordy

sumi if you see where they open a new 24 hr auctiona or Bin thread can you let me know? they shut it down and didnt add new links ????

YAY BROOKS!!! LOL its only 3,000! Your always in the swap! I am glad I still dont understand it! DH would kill me! whats at the PO? and we need pics of they dont exist!
How are you set up with pens/coops Brooks?

Most of the ones I have are still chicks and inside in brooders. I have 8 brooders set up in the "chick room" and 2 with newly hatched chicks in the bathroom. Coop wise I have 2 outside so far. 1 is a dog kennel that we built that attached to our garage when we built the house. The other is a tractor that I keep all the juvie's in. I am in the process of building a new coop for all the older chicks that need to get outside!!
AS for the Paypal swap I am always on and have tamed my self to only claiming breeds that I already have. Trying to get some diversity in my flock.
The boxes at the post office were a dozen Dark Brahma eggs, SFH eggs from 2 swappers on the swap thread and a side trade (got 9 BCM's & 9 Lav. AMs) I did with DMRippy.

Poor Luke, has an ear infection, sinus infection & bronchitis which is seriously causing asthma flair up so antibiotics steriods and 2 neb treatments and motrin for pain. I swear he is already better after the first rounds, pesting to play wii! good sign! now if only the little turd would eat something!

So Sorry Sally, but they are resilient, aren't they? I've had mine throw up, and then run off to play. I wish I had their pep!
Hi all!
Well I am getting close to taking the plunge! After reading, reading and reading some more (especially hatching101). I think I about ready to set my first batch in the incubator. I plugged it in this morning. Will be collecting eggs for a couple of more days, though. I have almost been standing out in the coop waiting for the girls to lay so I can get eggs in the basement. It was only 19 here this morning. Waiting till the weekend to put eggs in and try to count the right days for hatch as grand kids will be here during spring break. Granddaughter is really excited as they had about 25 barred rocks. Lost to weasel though and I told her that if dad predator proofed she could have the chicks. If we get a hatch and girls instead of boys should make her a nice little layer flock again.

I have a question. I candled some of my Easter hatch eggs last night. They have accidentally been running at a lower temp. than they should, but I fixed that yesterday. My Cochins are scrambled pretty badly so...

. Homegrowns are 100% fertile, fine. My Barnies have reattached(or most of them) It is very hard to see the aircells on them, I can faintly make it out on some. 2 of the eggs, the embryo seems to be growing DIRECTLY under the fattest end of the shell. Aircell being there is impossible for the embryo to be pressed up against the shell. I can't find an aircell at the other end either. Can the air cell just not be there at all? I am having such a hard time as it is I want to save every one I can.
