Quick update: one of the wrong end pippers from 2 days ago just hatched. No help needed. I hope the other 2 will do the same!
So that make 3? I'm glad the little one hatched for you. I've found that quite a few of the "wrong end pippers" manage to hatch on their own just fine.

Baby ducklings are incredibly cute. How many eggs are left?

6 Eggs left at the moment, all pipped. The only one I'm a little worried about is the other malpositioned one that pipped at the same time as #3 did. I doubt it will be able to hatch by itself, so I'm keeping an eye on it now to see how it goes and when I should intervene. Gosh, I'd be glad when this hatch is over! The ducklings are adorable though.

Halo is gone, I am fine we weren't that close, he has always been a weird one, only wanting food from me, he didn't like restraint in holding.
DH put him out of his misery before I even got awake this morning. I knew it should have been done last night, but I couldn't do it and DH was already in bed.
Thank God for DH! I have turned into the most mushy hearted nitwit ever,
thank goodness I don't have a macadam drive anymore that I will need to jump over the worms after a good rain!

Gotcha. I have too much work to get done before class tonight so I won't be researching it until tomorrow.

Wouldn't it take a lot of force to break the chalazae? I just don't see any difference between rolling the eggs and flipping the eggs since the eggs would end up in the same position either way..

I flip them in my hand. After using a turner I am convinced that hand turning the way I do gives me stronger chicks and a faster hatch. Not convinced a gentle turning is in order for regular non shipped eggs. shipped eggs are the exception. Momma chicken is not gentle in her turning. It will often look like she is playing soccer under all her fluff. Now that does not mean you should juggle and throw them around. Just my opinion and experience.
