I have got a quick question; how do I hatch out eggs with saddle shaped air cells (I couldn't find out about it in the main post)? Do I place them upright in an egg carton or lay them on their side?
Thanks

if it were mine I would be sure that the air cell is stable (not moving) then lay it with the lowest side up. If it moves hatch in a carton.

Well, I'm incubating again and I honestly don't have a clue what I'm dealing with this time! I mugged my broody hen and removed 15 eggs. I candled them and apart from some beautiful air sacs I couldn't see much. At all.

Except one egg that looks like it's about 6-7 days in... I'm going to candle again tomorrow.

HAHA I had to go back and read what yall were talking about. FRESH was in the original post so thought Gardening used it. Guess you both knew what FRESH meant just not how it got there.

I looked at a few different sites as well as some threads here and got so many different opinions on humidity I decided to incubate at 45-50% until lockdown when I bumped it to 65-70%. I'm using a Brinsea Octogen 20 Eco with an auto turner. So far the hatch was good. I set 9 eggs and I have 8 ducklings and 1 egg left that pipped yesterday. It's busy-busy in there, so it should hatch sometime today.

There is some good info on incubating and hatching ducks here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/594278/thread-formerly-known-as-hatch-day-is-today

It's a long thread, so if you want specific info use "search this thread" it will save you a lot of time! Here are some on Call ducks specifically:

Some questions about hatching call ducks

Are Call Ducks difficult to hatch??

Call Duck incubation period

Good luck with the hatch!
Thank you! I'm doing 50-55% & 70-75% for lockdown. I'm just stressing about the calls.....research, research , research plus trial & error I guess
