Happy Easter everyone. Tonight at 8pm will start day 21 for me. I am so anxious! I can't stand the wait!! No signs of anything yet!!

I know, I know, be patient, be patient...uhg

Quote: Just some, not too much, say 1 egg shell to replace the egg she laid. See you can get some oystershell. That you can offer to her in a separate bowl so she can help herself if needed. With eggshells it's better to disguise it, so they don't start thinking about eating their eggs. I'm sure she will love some scrambled egg though!

You will have to try it and see what happens. I've researched how to stop a hen laying and that was the only thing I found. Everyone wants their hens to lay, it seems, not stop! I'm hoping the shorter light hours would put these laying ideas out of her head for a bit. She will probably be a super layer when she's older, but I'm concerned because she's so young still. If she can hang on a bit longer it will be better for her in the long run.

I know, day 21 is the worst. They'll start hatching tomorrow morning, so get away from the incubator now

Good luck!

Well, i now have 3 serama babies and 1 silkie. That egg I posted earlier that looked weird was alive last night. It wasn't moving today, so I opened it up. He was dead and positioned wrong. His head was under his leg. Also, the skull was severely vaulted. I think two of my serama eggs are quitters. I have 2 with external pips and 3 more that have movement still in them. These are saddle cells so m wondering if they may be positioned wrong for hatch.
I'm freaking out a bit. I'm so afraid I have shrink wrapped my pipped babies by opening the incubator a few times. Never for more than about 30 seconds and the humidity has shot back up real quick when closed. They haven't been pipped too long.
Sooooo, what should I do about the unzipped live eggs?
Also, my newest baby has a bloody string with a small, yellow glob stuck to it attached to its navel. Will this fall off? It's pretty gross.

Keep watching but no touching. They know what they are doing.

There are now 6 eggs that have hatched and 6 more to go. But none of them show any pips or anything. The six that have hatched kind of shoved the unhatched ones into the same corner. What is your opinion on wether or not I should take out the hatched chicks. Or is it okay if they bounce the other ones around?
