You can try doing the float test or you can candle them to see if they're alive.

What did the air cell sizes look like?

Did the others hatch on day 21?
Hummm... will it hurt them if they are alive??? I candeled one silkie egg... it is black but my light is horrible so that is all I can tell... the air sacks seems small.... the one I opened had piped in the middle of the egg and was no where near the air sack...it still has a good amount of blood vesslies but I have its beak out so it can breath :)
Hold them against your ear and tap them. Listen for a response from the chick. I check my overdue eggs like that and by candling. If I don't see anything when I candle and tap I leave it another day.
So, if it is black inside and makes no sound, leave it for 24 more hours and re-pete...
if it is black AND peeps help make a pip around beak and leave and check its progress and only help if no progress is made after sevreal more hours??

Quote: Forgot say candle before float test. If they pipped internally you must not dunk that egg in water!

If you can hear the chick peep it means it pipped internally, it can breathe. You can leave it for a few hours and see if it makes progress, but keep in mind it takes 6 hours + from internal to external pip, so don't such it. It it doesn't progress to external pip you candle again, check where the beak and the air sac line is and make the pip hole close as possible to the beak above the air sac line. Below that line is the inner membrane with the blood vessels and the chick and you don't want to touch those yet. Once you've made the pip hole you wait some more and see if the chick makes progress and starts zipping by itself. This can take up to 24 hours, so again, don't rush.

So here it is! On its nice soft chicken blanket.. but that dang leg will not do what it is suppose to. I will curl it under and it will it kick out. Do you see it. Earlier it was laying under the chick and the foot was stuck to the opposite side. Now it is just laying behind it. This was the leg that was first freed. It is dragging it around when it moves. Normal?

Keep in mind that SOME of mine took longer than 6 hours from internal to external. Like 12-24, and hatched on their own. Like Sumi said there is NO RUSH! But Sumi will get ya through it if you need to go in. So will many others on this board!

ok, I candeled.... cannot see anything in any of them... but TWO are peeping!!!
wee.gif
ALL of the OTHERS FLOATED in the water test!!!!

so they are all bad if they float right? I could see one pip and circled it on the egg... the other is making noise, but I cannot see an air sack or find pip...

If they are peeping then they made an internal pip, so that is good, now put them back and sit on your hands!

As for the others.... let me just express my doubts on the float test really quick. I have had a live egg float and a dead egg float. How much floating are we talking?

just bobing on top of the water with at least a little egg shell above the water line... some were higher than others but all were above the water line.... should I put them back in the bator?

Peeping's good! I don't do the float test. Too much room for error there. I prefer candle and tap and later open and investigate.
