but dont tell my sister ....this is last hatch before i go to head out ...

an hour isn't that big a deal whats the room temp?

About 30c

adding.... you did see how I saved two frozen eggs right!

Ya was thinking about that story gives me a bit of hope, one of the eggs hasn't been wiggling at all since, we'll see how it goes.

I have a computer UPS set up now for my bators. I took the battery out an old UPS and then sat next to it a marine deep cycle battery and connected the terminals to the UPS. I should get 24 hrs of incubation time if I get taken off the grid.

Good idea for next time :) can never rely on ESB they suck

Calculate the average number of eggs those chickens give you, reduce the subtotal by the fraction.Thats REALLY how many chickens you have!! You can further reduce by 40-60% if you have bantams.
Chicken math is a way to justify getting more birds.  Above is Oz's explanation.

I love this oz! Can I plagiarize and make a sign for my motha ducka coop?

there is a slightly more improved version that allows for project pens on the incubators anonymous thread. Go for it.

That the one who had the cord wrapped around it's leg? I've seen it with chicks, but my assisted duckling's navel was normal. That's why I try to keep them in the egg as long as possible, so I don't have navel problems!
As long as the navel's sealed up and not showing any sign of infection it's good. It sounds like you did a good job with it :thumbsup

It looks just like the first ones navel which was like an unassisted baby's. both of them came out on their own. The first one I wasn't home and my husband was freaking out trying to keep him in its shell in a big cup and he kept trying to get out by jumping! The second one with the navel issue got its foot and the leg out and kept kicking and kicking with that cord around its leg so I left her but she started really yanking on the cord so I helped her and she was seriously stuck but I was scared she would of ripped the cord right off it was hanging by a thread when she finally got out on her own.
By the way do you put marbles or anything in your ducklings water dishes for drowning precaution?
