Quote: I have a coolerbator link in my signature below and oz has a link to his, or at least one of his!
I couldn't be sure, I have brain damage from reading so many articles and stuff of yours and his....oh, maybe that's what is wrong with my eyes, not age

to everyone that was not here when I said Hi earlier-
i am new to this thread.....I have been avoiding it, as I already know I will become an addict to incubating.....when I can start.....

Wish I'd have come here sooner!!
ME TOO!

Hi PoultryGirly!  This is very common with shipped eggs unfortunately, but have some faith! I have never done call ducks though! See article......

https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-101  There is a section on shipped eggs in the article, have a look and let us know if you have questions!

Thanks! I just re-candled all 13 eggs and all of them have detached air cells, it seems. Only 2, though, look very serious. The other 11 eggs' air cells, when you move the egg, the air cell will circle the top. That's as far as it will move, so I'm hoping that's a good sign.

i want oz's giant hatching cabinet lol i mean if im gonna do shipped eggs i might as well go full on out ... lol just not yet

as far as the prior discussion .. i may loathe my styrobator but it has had its good points... eggs have actually hatched from being in there lol
it has just always been touchy temp wise.. well the one top has... i got 3 bators at once.. one i donated and one bottom is missing lol and i have two tops and another bottom .. perhaps i should swap out tops for the shipped hatch .....

wow its like a runaway thread here thesew day turn your back get busy and it is flooded but i love the company and enjoy newcomers and old timers alike ...

like i said in another forum today sometimes without tone of voice some things can be taken as rude mean or even snarky .. when they often are not meant that way ...

WHY CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG ?
and who all here is old enough to remember that lol

However, you use it to "adjust" egg weight loss during incubation. We candle on days 7,10,14,18 To WATCH WEIGHT LOSS IN EVERY EGG! An EGG MUST lose approximately 13-14% of its weight during the incubation process. THIS IS YOUR GOAL!! You can monitor this by marking Air cells and also by weighing. Please refer to CANDLING section of this Article for more Air Cell info.

Size of air cell on day 7, 14, and 18 of incubation

I choose the easier method, keeping a close eye on air cell growth during incubation. You begin by ONLY adding a small amount of water and keep Humidity between 28%-45% and adjusting as you weigh or candle depending on moisture loss. So if your air cells look too large you must add humidity, too small lower it, and if your weighing you adjust as needed. UNTIL DAY 18 LOCKDOWN,
then stop turning and raise humidity to 65-70%
I have read and re-read this article numerous times!
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/how-to-incubate-hatch-eggs-using-the-dry-incubation-method
And read this entire thread with over 300 posts of information

Humidity will naturally fluctuate in your incubator as it fluctuates widely with weather conditions.
If it is slightly lower or higher some days then don't worry about it. Do your best to keep the humidity level in the incubating room around 50%. You may actually need to dehumidify. By controlling the room humidity, you can be more accurate with humidity inside the incubator. Just remember high humidity is MUCH worse than low humidity as higher humidity hinders the evaporation inside of the egg. Each egg must lose approximately 13-14% of its weight
during the incubation process. You can monitor this by marking Air cells and also by weighing.

Funny I've read that about 10 times already!! But my aircell on my shipped eggs are huge. But seemed to have slowed down in growth.
you know I am really learning about air cells and how fresh and old eggs are, I have noticed ALOT of shipped eggs are being sent too old! they should be collected for 3 perhaps 4 days and shipped! I suggest a few things when ordering eggs and perhaps we should get a list together and place it in the article.

A SHIPPED EGG REQUEST LIST
The only thing you can do is watch them and seriously watch for those low pips that may not be able to externally pip... I threw malpositions info into the assist article.
