Ok. This one hatched last night it has this hanging out. Is it absorbing that?

Oh my goodness, that incubator looks like a murder scene. Wishing you some better luck!

Got issues with my little ameraucana chick I think. Nothing definitive, just a gut feeling. The other two are out and about doing chick things, and that one either stays back under the heat, or just kind of stands there looking a bit goofy. It is stable on its feet, and I have seen it drinking and picking at food. It does not eat with the same gusto the other two have, though. I did observe it pooping this morning, and it was relatively clear and looked to be a mucus-type consistency. It often makes a sound that were it a baby parrot, I'd call food begging. Of course it's my favorite of the bunch

Can't lose this chick. Any ideas? I don't want to wait to do something if there's something I can do now. I'm working on trying to get a video of these "begging" sounds.

Candled my coolerbator eggs last night and pulled 10 that were obviously not developing. Seven of those were BLRW, leaving me only 4 in the bator. This is my second purchase of these eggs, I just can't seems to get BLRW eggs that thrive. Two of the eggs pulled were phoenix, and I have another I think quit a couple days ago but I'm leaving it in, just in case. Also pulled a couple ameraucanas.

Hey guys. I want to do another incubation, but my school drama department is currently using my incubtor for the school play so I can't use it right now... But I was thinking, maybe I can get one of my bird to go broody? It's the time of year mallard ducks would be building nests to hatch, and I've noticed my duck building a nest under the nesting box. She is almost a year old, do y'all think she could go broody? I also have a 6 month old silkie pullet (she hasn't started laying quite yet) is she too young to go broody? She hangs around the chicken's nesting area a lot. If she can go broody that would be great.... How do I get my birds to go broody?
I think that if ducks build nests before they go broody, that that is probably what is going to happen. Start collecting eggs I say! :D

That really sucks with the eggs.
As for the chick, I think Sally would say to give it some electrolytes in its water. I am not sure what has electrolytes in it though...

THANKS! GREAT PROOF READ! yes, I only got 4 eggs so three is all but one! I also really expected at least one extra egg but we will she how she responds to this

Yay! Ok, If she goes broody I'll walk up to my neighbors farm store this week and get some hatching eggs

Sounds good, but remember that I know literally nothing about ducks, but it sounds like broodiness is what is likely to happen if she is making a nest. Maybe your chickie will join her. :D

I hope she goes broody! I wanna hatch lil ducklings!
(I also still need to get rid of my little Roos from the last hatch LOL)

I thought the same thing and was wondoring what happened.

Great idea. For some reason, I can't think clearly when it's me having the issues. I bought a few packs of the Vital Pack stuff from Meyer, will go add that to the water now. I already am using UP ACV in there.

I did get a fresh poop pic.

On sand. There's pretty much nothing there. Just a few looks like bubbles. I really hope I'm worrying over nothing.
Bit more info: the chick is 2-3 days old. Hatched on its own, though I did have to rinse it off and stick it immediately back in the incubator after several hours as it was goopy and not fluffing up.
