oh I hope your right! lol
It's all part of the cycle of life. As a young boy growing up on my grand parents farm in NW Ohio our primary commodity was grain corn soybeans and wheat. My grandparents were children of the great depression and were taught out of nessecity to manage their resources wisely and they wasted nothing in that respect, my grandma was the master of the small flock of fowl kept on the place and grandad took care of a few hogs and a few holstiens raised for milk and meat. My grandmother would process and cull her flock about every six months and me and my sister would help with the chore ( every body worked ) on the place no mater how old you were, you had a task befitting you age and ability so at a young age I was taught to process animals and grains for seed after harvest. my grandparents god bless them lived a very self Suffciant life and instilled those values of sustainability and family in my parents as well as my sister and myself as they used to say, you learn allot about life and death on the farm ,,,,,, just sayinYup I took the advice that I should NOT LIKE IT OR WANT TO do it, but know that I need to do it. Deed is done and wasn't so bad. Thanks you guys for the support! It was a big step, now the bigger step would be eating them, but I will freeze them for a while.

the quails are not so good.
delayed hatches are fraught with problems. one of the quails that were assisted died. The second is OK, In a brooder alone. Mrs Oz will open the other eggs in the morning - its 10pm there.
I really hope we get another few quails out. One just sucks but given the situation it is amazing we have any. Inday (my wife's nick name) used to work in L&D before she became a nurse practitioner says that delivering babies is way easier than dealing with chicks.
we will give the lone quail some sebright banty chicks as company in the morning.
no power disruptions for 5 weeks and 3 power outages today. Mrs Oz earned her beer tonight.

every 8-10 weeks. sometimes for a week, other times just in country 2-3 days.I'm sure Cochins gave you much better advice then I could have! I'm glad you did get a live quail though. So stressful.
Oz, how often do you have to travel back and forth?
