Ducks take about 24 hours from internal pip to external pip, then 24 hours from there to zipping and then zipping can take a few hours too. It's a long process!

Good to know! I found the three of them pipped yesterday late morning and the fourth one had internally pipped, so I guess I can be expecting duckies today!!

Oz, I'm starting to wonder why I trusted this guy and what else he's been hiding from us. The moment I told him we're going back he's stories changed completely. From "all is well on the farm" he went to negativity. It sounds like things went from bad to worse since we left.

He actually said to me, about Heide, "We didn't know you were coming back" So it makes it o.k. that he can break a promise, just because we're not there to catch him out! With friends like those, who needs enemies? Well, needless to say we're not friends any more. And it's sad. I liked them and trusted them enough to leave my boy with them. And trust him to keep an eye on our farm and on MIL. I wonder what's waiting for us there.

What a shame. So sorry you are going through this Sumi. People can be so disappointing. I hope you get down to the bottom of it at least so you know what really happened.

I just think they are the prettiest chicks out of any breed I've had before. Love the mask! lol

I think tomorrow morning when my eggs go to lock down I'm not even going to candle them. Whatever hatches, hatches. Just going to take them out of the cartons and lay them down. This time I have a different tray for hatching. The one in there now has too big of wire. The chicks had a very hard time walking and one even got it's toe stuck from last hatch. The other tray is longer and has finer wire for them. I also put a piece of wood on it so the chicks can't jump out the back and fall. Again like one did last hatch. Stupid chickens.

Had to learn a few things from last hatch. LOL

One smaller egg hatched out and I see four other eggs with external pips. . I need to fire up the brooder!!!!
