It's a great area to live in. What MOS is your hubby? My dad was a combat engineer. Helped build the lake out there and then stuck around to be range cadre at the dustbowl for the AIT kids until he retired. I wonder if they're still training the engineers out there? Last I knew, they had moved the MP school out there. I was in one of the last MP classes to go through that school when it was at McClellan, before they decommissioned the base. Gah, makes me feel SO old.

I bet that area of MO has all really grown out since I was last there in '91.

Best of luck to you and your family.
Such a small world! Hubs is combat engineer as well although in the last several years he has been doing multiple different things. Currently he is with a boat company building floating bridges, and he has dabbled a bit with EOD. Not something I like, but something he assures me is completely safe...uh huh, not buying it. Last tour to Afghanistan they were doing route clearance...not a safe job either. Engineers are still here, MPs are here as well as a chemical school. He went through basic and AIT here in 95. And will now be retiring here. We've come full circle I guess. They very recently changed the MOS numbers so I have no clue what he is anymore.

The fort is huge now. All locked up tight. We used to could drive through the ranges out the back gate no problem no checks, now there is security everywhere and every road out has a gate. The surrounding community is still growing but business wise there's not much. One reason we chose Rolla instead of Waynesville or St. Robert.

Strangely enough I heard from her.

After missing her flight because she was looking at houses to rent (we have to officially relocate to the juristiction of the adoptions) she missed her flight to Bangkok. A couple of hundred dollars in penalties later she was on the morning flight solo to BKK.

Being the independent girl she is, she caught a train on her own then bargained down a tuk-tuk to a decent price to get her to the hotel from the train station.

She caught up with her sisters family and that night went on a river cruise.

Yesterday she caught up with a dear friend and mentor when she trained in labor and delivery nursing back in SoCal. Her friend retired back to Thailand.

Right now she is at the floating market

pictures are not ours - just for education purposes.

She has had a Chiang Beer for me - my only request and is having a ball.

On Tuesday she flies back to Manila, then a few days with the kids before coming here on May 5. We will go to Denver for a conference May 8-11 and she returns to Manila on the 13th. Quick trip. Sore bum from planes for sure.
