Mr Hodges you stop that this instant! I am trying to hide the turkey from DH!
that didn't work, he woke me up this morning with a kiss and "hunny those big birds in the bator are too big for it they cant even stand up, and next time you want to get turkeys you may NOT get them ok? love you bye"

DOLP!

You've been caught!
I hope your hens toe gets better! I was going to say how I love the new avy Tony!
HOW SWEET they are!!!!!!! awwwww

FF = it will stink when you stir it. Like a druken sailor. but I take off the top and then add hot water and replace with feed and it goes away a bit!
So do I keep a little bit of feed in the bucket and just add to it to keep it going. Do I need 3 buckets to keep a rotation going if it takes 3 days to ferment?

So I am told that poults are dumb and need chicks to teach them to eat and drink, so is the game bird starter ok for my chicks??? I am confused!

I talk to the breeder of the heritage reds all the time asking for advice. He said it's fine. Make sure the protein % is only between 20-23. He also said to make sure the calcium isn't to high either. Like Purina's chicken breeder feed is too high of calcium content for young chicks.

OK on the FF. I have a very sensitive smell. So what others dont think is strong and cant even smell, I can. Yea, those chicks are awesome. I heard Paul Harters Dellies are big heavy birds. Which is great for the table!!!

When breeding time comes next year I will make sure I only keep all the good colors and the heavy ones for breeding.

Post some pics of the GLW's. I just bought 3 more hens and a roo that are 3 months old. Im up to 9 hens/pullets and one Roo. I found one more Roo thats 6 weeks old locally that Im going to buy. I will be raising pure breds by the end of they year. I dont have a clue how many GLW/BLRW's I have with my chicks. I think a bunch. I love Wyandottes. The BLRW/Buff Orpington crosses are going to be pretty as well. I think I have about 30 BLRW's counting chicks and young birds. Actually Im not real sure and wont be sure until things get a little older. I will have three chicken pens in a few months.( I will need to build one more) BLRW's in one, GLW's in another and Buff Orpingtons in another and may even have one for the mixed Wyandottes if they turn out as pretty as I think they will.

I think the GLW are so pretty!! But mine are feathering sooooo slow. Been almost 3 week and have there wing feathers and thats it really. Getting a lot more actually. I have one that has no wing feathers. Look like somebody cut it's wing off. HAHAHA I was told they are roos like that. So we'll see. only have 6. I was looking for a go breeder of the GLW and somebody told me to contact Rudy Troxel. But he only carries SLW now. But this is what he told me if you want great GLW.

"Get your hands on a decent/good male and cross him on Silver Females. That's the easiest way to get good ones. I'm sure someone down your way has good SL and you can probably come up with at least a male GL somewhere relatively local. You'll have good females in the first generation and good males in the second. Not too many people are working with GL nationally."

Just passing along info if you want to breed them like I do.

I keep 4" + and add to it. No 2 buckets, feed out of one and then the other next day

Ok so by keeping 4 inches of ff and adding to it the fermentation continues and I don't have to wait 3 days. I added the little bit left in my jar to the bucket and it already is smelling sour doughish.
