Okay, everyone, The Worry Warts back!! Last night was a busy hatching night, but now it's really quiet in there, that's why I'm worried. Eggs were pipping and zipping so quickly, with no problem at all, but there are 4 that are just sitting there now, no pips, silent. 2 are Sally's Blue/Gold Partridge Brahmas, and that's why I'm worried. I don't want to lose those chicks!!! It's only day 21 today, but you know, they all seem to hatch at once, so do you think I should candle/tap to make sure they haven't pipped internally or something. Someone please be the voice of reason for me!

Voice of reason? haha.

As long as you don't have external pips, candle the remaining eggs and report back to us.

I "should" be gettin Sally's eggs today! Ugh stupid phone won't find me the happy dance button... You will just have to imagine... Boom chicka boom la la la ...er. Something like that.

Yesterday when I woke up it was 62 degrees... This morning it is a whopping 32. From almost 90 degree weather to barely 40 today... AND my heater seems broken. Blowing cold air. It's MAY dang it! I don't want to pay to fix my heater in May!

HAPPY FRIDAY! I'm waiting so very patiently for eggs and then I will have something to keep me occupied for a while... Seven kids isn't enough I guess.

Oh, I think I've done a bad thing... I bought three ducklings way back before Easter I think. they hate us. They absolutely think they are chickens. So... Do I let them be chickens? Or force them to be ducks? They had there own little duck house as a pre feather place before we were going to let them out to the pond. But the chickens have adopted them and they now follow the chickens into the barn at night. DH made them a mock roost out of old tires and they get as close to those chickens as they possibly can up on the tires.

I really want to hatch some ducks for the kids. They wanted duckies to follow them around the yard and play around the pond with. I guess you have to hatch them yourself to get that type of bond? Oy... The messes I create . They are much bigger now and not so loving.

And here... This is Matilda the chicken. She lays me a tiny egg every day almost, and Addyson will only eat her eggs. They are little girl eggs and she is a little girl she says... . . And yes by the way we do chores in TuTus around this house.
My 4yr old wanted a couple ducklings so he picked out 2. They are both drakes. They hated us and still do. They were in the coop for a while but were so nasty messy and I had read that a drake would kill a hen trying to mate. So they were moved to their own pen out by the pond. They don't like the pond either. So now they run all over everywhere but in the ponds unless I pick them up and put them there. Oh and they have started terrorizing the kids and dogs. Not a huge duck fan if you can't tell. I am currently trying to give them away to anyone who wants them. Duckling are super cute but not for me.

No movement at all, and no internal pip. 1 Cochin drowned, it pipped in the middle on the bottomside of the egg, and died. 1 Cochin is pipped internally, and breathing, egg is wobbling, but I don't know when it pipped internally? I'm thinking maybe I should drill an airhole in the aircell? Opinion?

oh Mich, how many cochin hatched? mind you those birds are a tad smaller in the shell so it may take brahma longer???? yes????

Sally, the egg that said Cochin, not Splash Cochin like the rest, hatched a blue. Do you have a blue hen? I love it!
LMAO I had a BLUE ROO! so the chance of blues/splashes are your eggs, since my black was broody. The blue wasn't laying either.

I use a push pin to make little holes in the air cells for my eggs. Seems less risky than a drill and it has always worked.

If it were me, I would investigate the brahma eggs with the small chance of saving one of them, but it's your call.
