Hey guys. I'm having some Turkey eggs coming my way and I have been given this tin incubator. I am trying to get the temp set on it but it seems to fluctuate drastically. It drops all the way down to 90. Is this normal? I have never used an incubator before
what kinda bator? no it should stay at 99.5 with little variation. do you have it in a draft free area? room is at a stable temp all day, not near windows doors lights or heaters or AC?

Did you calibrate thermometers?

EXTERNAL PIP EXTERNAL PIP!!!!!! The duck is stronger than I thought!! He broke through that shell! I would record the hatch, But It's 11PM here and too dark to record. And I can't keep my lamp on all night. And I voluenteer at a horse stable on Tuesday and Saturday, so I will only be home for 30 minutes in the morning... OR... I could wake up extra early and record some and take pics..... I get home at 12:00 in the afternoon tomorrow.
YAY!!!

Quote: I just searched that on ebay, looks like they may get good money for that vintage bator on there!

you will want to add your own thermometer and check its calibration. see that article and start reading, everything in the article has been used at one time or another!

Do you know if it has wafers for a thermostat? if it does they may need replaced. Have you checked all the wiring? Is there any insulation to the bator at all?
perhaps you can cover partially with a thick blanket, just be sure to read about how important ventilation is too!

Already named the unhatched duckling... Aflack. I love that!!! LOL
