Patience is the key. Heck when I put new hens in with the others, I just have to walk away. Otherwise they will drive me crazy. I want to break it all up. But they figure it out sooner or later.might try it one day and see since i have seven roos

I have heard that hens will sometimes crow.Ummmmmm........................One of my GLW Hens was crowing a few minutes ago or I was sill groggy from fishing all night................................She/He still looks like a hen................................But that does explain why I only get 3 eggs a day from those 4 hens............................But he/she still looks like a hen.............................![]()

I occassionally have that problem too. If you think about it, an egg eater would eat the egg, not just peck it. I would have to agree with Chicksooner. I also saw an article the other day that mentioned that too much calcium can cause those little holes too.
What is it? A bat?
if we all lived closer, we could all go together and each have their own shelflike my new incubator?

i wont be ready for a 12000 egg bator till next year![]()
If you don't have a roo around the most dominant hen will take over and act like a roo, sometimes she'll "crow" like a roo as well. This is more common with older hens.Ummmmmm........................One of my GLW Hens was crowing a few minutes ago or I was sill groggy from fishing all night................................She/He still looks like a hen................................But that does explain why I only get 3 eggs a day from those 4 hens............................But he/she still looks like a hen.............................![]()
Pick her off the nest and put her somewhere outside with her chicks. Then block access to the nest until it gets dark, before letting her back in with her chicks for the night. My chick made it!!! Umbilical still needs to finish closing but looks good.
Sumi-how do I get big momma up? It has been more than 3 days. The chicks are eating and drinking. I picked her up and made it walk around for a few minutes yesterday.
