this is great my parents are out and Kids are glued to mickey mouse (for a treat on this gloomy day I actually put the tv on!!) Its nice to get online to chat with you guys when you are all online! Usually your all gone when I come on after the kids have gone to bed!!

You all seem to be putting me off the idea of ducks! we have a couple of wild ones on our dug out that are nice to watch but you can NEVER get anywhere near them! What about geese? are they as stinky and messy??! They are tempting to get to just make sure the kids stay away from the dug out. Our "kid eating monster" seems to be doing the trick for now but not sure how long we can keep that one going with my son!
I didnt know how messy they were until after I got mine too. Within weeks of putting them with the chickens the area was a soggy stinky cess pit. I resolved it by up and moving the coop and enclosure to another area of the garden with half grass / half concrete. I have a small frame pool on the concrete for them so that they can clean themselves and splash without making mud around the pool and I can hose off any ahem 'mess'. It works very well. They have their scratch area and their mess area. I love the ducks so much personallity.
Geese tend to be very aggressive. Anyone i know who had them got rid of them

Quote: We had 2 geese, I did not like them, they were very noisy. ours were not at all aggressive toward us, in fact, they wouldn't come near us, until we had feed, then they would come near us and be aggressive.......................The male died, and we gave the female to a girl near us who had other geese because it was so lonely, I felt so bad for her. They nwere rescues at the sanctuary, and once the male died, the female was louder and honking all the time. I got rid of her only bcuz she was lonely, not because I didn't like them. I actually missed them afterward. They were great watch dogs though!!

I hate having to rehome my animals. Our rooster is a tyrant and I have toyed with the idea of rehoming him. (or marinating him when he really hurts me!) but I haven't had the heart to do it. We've had him since he was a chick and its hard to stay mad at him.
