I keep telling myself that after my next hatch is done I'm taking a break. Hasn't happened yet.... I have done 4 hatches since the Easter hatch along. I currently have Cornish X/Red ranger project eggs in the bator, and my Wyandotte "party mix" eggs should get here tomorrow.-- After these hatch I will be done..... Maybe.
I know some of you guys have Cochins. Does any one know what color this little on is?

yup sounds like she is clear! awesome! usually they can get out fine, just seem to take a tad longer. just keep track of her and her time frame dif from another that pipped about the same time.

The chicks chorioallantoic (CAM) membrane (what we call “inner membrane”) is extremely vascular and is crucial for embryo development. It is responsible for transfer of calcium from the eggshell to the embryo, provides gas exchange, and balances acids in the embryo, water, and electrolyte reabsorption from the allantoic cavity where urinary waste products are discharged.
"During the embryonic development, calcium is reabsorbed from the eggshell and is transferred to the embryo for bone formation. The chorionic epithelial cells mobilize and transport eggshell calcium into the embryonic circulation in a development-specific manner, starting at days 10–12 and peaking around day 17 of incubation, concomitantly with the onset of calcium accumulation by the embryo."

Interesting. I'm taking a biology course next semester at the college. Hopefully I'll be able to apply some of the knowledge to hatching.

oohhh i need... no .. not what i need .. i need about 60 extra pairs of hands to have this yard sale stuff ready !!!!! one more night to finish going thru boxes and clean stuff off that needs wiped down and washed and get stuff loaded in to take in the trailer down for the sale !!!!!! but i have to get it done !!!! so .. if i go awol and post the summary late tommorow everyone knows why lol
