I am losing all hope for my incubating eggs. Some have reached their lockdown weight on day 14, some still have a couple of grams to go. Some air cells are massive. I couldn`t see any movement last night, but I know that means very little. I have upped the humidity a bit in the hopes that it helps. All eggs are marked, and I think I won`t bother again now.

I`m not trying again if this all goes wrong. I will try to source baby chicks.

I feel your heat. Im in a warehouse, loading a trailer with NO air, it is 20* hotter in this darn trailer. Sucks.

The hatch scoop for this one.

Out of 16 eggs 13 very health ones.

1 of the eggs for what ever reason don't seem like it make it. Will check it out if it doesn't hatch.

The wrong end pipped chick I finally had to take the whole thing out of the egg. Wasn't going to do it on it's own. Wrong end and side ways. Out with no problem. But not really sure if it's going to make it. Still all curled up. Tries to roll around but hasn't tried to stand yet. So will keep an eye on him.

And this is way I don't leave shell's in there. One was almost zipped. Had beck to his eyes out. And a piece of shell and yoke junk from a hatched chick got smeared on his beck and suffocated!!!

Next time I see yoke junk on the shell of an egg I'm checking it more closely. Nothing I can do now.

Now I just need to keep an eye on the 8 I moved to the brooder. So they don't roll over and get stuck under the heat lamp and have a heat stroke. One did that my second hatch. Have to watch them like little kids. LOL But all in all not a bad hatch.

Could be 14 if the wrong end pipper lives.

Congrats on a great hatch! Sorry for the lost chick. I will keep my fingers crossed for the other one.

Just a little advise to those with broodies, take unhatched eggs and place in bator or at least candle. I did so Tuesday and came home wednesday to two more chicks and one internally pipped and the rest are a few days away from pipping.

Thank you. This is the initial reason for having an incubator. Sally posting in the PA thread all the adorable pics of her chicks is the other. The woman won't be happy until we are all drowning in chickens! Ducks are still optional.

Quick question...baby chick's foot curls sometimes and not others..would you all put the boots on? Seems like she (we'll say she ok?!) can make them straight if she wants...

Lucas had Harmonys "Anchor" Serama hen out today, she just wont stop her broodiness! But letting her out in the yard was too funny! That stinker would NOT go on the grass! she tiptoed back to me and hopped on the log balance beam we have for the kids to play on! I am going to tell Harmony we need to change her name to MISS Priss! She was one of the hens we hatched in December I think it was from Bhep on here! WE LOVE our serama! truly we do!

Hi Sally, (yes I am posting on this thread ) Love the bird she is beautiful! So have a question how long should I keep the broody and her baby separate from the others so they can acclimate to one another and have a better chance? My other hens keep trying to steel the chicks! Yes I have chicknappers!! I am going crazy they did fine with the 2 hatched out by momma one on Mother's Day but now it is an all out brawl for the new 3 peeps! Any advice is helpful please and thank you in advance!

Increase the humidity immediately. I would aim for at least 60%.

How were the eggs at day 7? What have you been keeping your humidity at?

Please don't give up on incubating. It can be stressful at times, but it's often worth it. Which each batch, you will learn something new. I'm sure that everyone here has had their fair share of failed hatches.

I started trying dry hatch, but the humidity rarely got to 20%, since then I have been keeping it at 30% plus. Should I leave in the eggs that are on day 8? Although the only option I would have is to put them into my home made incubator, and the temps are not very steady in it, hence the shop bought incubator.

Off to add water right away!
