I think one of my production reds are egg bound!! She has been moving around all day. If I pick her up she will find a place to lay down. Been reading on it, but I felt around and really can't feel an egg, but it is tight more so than the others. And there is yucky yellow goo around her vent. I read they will have that. Anybody have this before??? Another first.

Oh, and I haven't seen her eat or drink anything today. Through out some scratch feed and she never moved. So I'm thinking it has to be bad. Because they all think that stuff is crack!!

Very good information. Good luck with her!

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well.

Tomorrow will be day 18 for my wonky celled eggs, and despite them, it looks like 8 out of 12 will make it to lockdown. I cannot see any movement in the eggs, but the silkie eggs look full to bursting, so they are still growing. I can just see fullness in the maran eggs. I will take them out of the carton tomorrow and lie them all close together. The humidity is running at 60% plus, which I will keep it at.

What should I do with the polish eggs that are a week behind? (slow posting ebay seller) I have kept them in the higher humidity as they have been losing to much weight, thank you for the advice cochin! I can try and devise something to tilt them to and fro during lockdown, or I can put them into my very unreliable home made incubator. Which do you wonderful people think will be best?

Finally in an area with 4G, so thought I'd share a picture of my new baby. His (?) name is Bilbo.

What a beauty! I think you have a female. The cere in a male is blue, but as a baby it is rose or bluish purple ( can you tell I just googled?) Anyway, I think yours is a she lol.

Keep us posted as to the higher humidity with the wonky air cell hatches, as mine were filled with liquidy gel from too much humidity and needed much assistance for hatching and I lost 6 that grew to much and had no air cell.
When you say unreliable, do you mean temp can climb or descend to extremes, if so, I would not tempt it. If you mean the humidity is unreliable than that can still be regulated and I would use it. Wishing you great luck!

I think the air cell end is empty, it sounds empty when I tap it. I will weigh them tomorrow to make sure they have lost weight to be certain. The cells are pretty big, which was why the humidity has gone up early. Even with raising it, they have grown a bit more. I drew them on last candling.

With all the weighing, candling, drawing and worrying, I will be glad to lock them up!

The home made incubators temps are all over the place. I will see if I can make something to tilt the eggs without opening the reliable incubator. It can`t be hard, I hope.
