Quote: That's gotta be the best corn in the world. I pick some up every time Im there in season. Its rare. Its 12 hours from here but like I said my wife still has family there and I do jobs up there occasionally.
I have NOT had a good morning! the seven serama I hatched and are to be picked up tomorrow? well the light blew who knows when, they were all what looked dead. I remember chookschick posting a video of a lady who brought back chicks to life with a blow dryer and stimulation. So harmony and I did the blow dryer and stimu for over 40 minutes this morning! And I can hardly believe every single chick is running around now! I don't know if its effected them but in a day or two I should tell. I feel so bad! I need an alarm in each brooder! and it had to be those tiny ones right! ugggggg
I also had three dead chickens this morning, Full grown chickens! I thought I would have to call in Chad to draw blood! I found one CCL and freaked, then another behind it in the coop. Then I went to the brahma pen and one was missing! another in the coop blue and dead. I thought it was the whole grains I started to add! So I decided to cut the dead warm brahmas neck and investigate and there was pine shavings and whole grains curled up and all blocked up! she choked, I was right on the choking! I didn't think anything of it when I cleaned coops and opened the bags of shavings, for some reason this time they were not powdery chunks, instead they were curls of dark wood. Almost like whittler shavings! Never saw them look like that, same brand as I always had. why on earth would the chickens be trying to eat them??? DH is gonna have a fit, he told me not to use them and now one of his prize girls is gone.
Then my neighbor was hollering to me from the other side of the woods to come see her, I get there and she is covered with redpurple splotches all over, she has lyme disease and is terrible sick. just great the poor woman gets no rest from illness. so sad. I am so sad that she didn't ask for help sooner, or that I didn't check in on them. I am such a loner but I could have cleaned or cooked or something!
on top of my day my strep throat is getting worse and now my sinuses hurt and all I want to do is sleep and I cant!
If you pray, pray for my neighbor she is a great woman that deserves to feel good!
Good thing.... I uploaded a pic!![]()

She eats and drinks OK, she just gets hammered by the other hens and even the big roo because (I think) she got friendly with my little roo. I don't know what to do. She's also stopped laying back when she first got lethargic and kept her eyes closed all the time. She still keeps her eyes closed a lot. I feel so bad for her, she's just tormented so I keep her in with the young birds but pretty soon they're going to have to integrate too.

awwwwww she has no worms or miteslice etc? have you given probotics?
They get homemade yogurt and FF for probiotics. Haven't seen any mites/lice; I use DE in their coop and nesting boxes. She just seems really depressed...poor sweetie.
