I am soooooo glad I did eggtopsies outside. 2 infertile, one formed with internal pip, two quit this week ... And one exploded on me. Hysterical only because I was outside. Boy do my hands stink!

My Momma hen hatched out 3 poults, one I had to help and didn't make it, past 2nd day, hen took them out of brooder house and it some how got stuck on it side and was still alive, but died shortly there after, other two are doing great. I gave my broody Lavender, who only hatched one chick, 6 broilers to raise, due to it being a splurge purchase, while getting some shipping boxes at Meyer, who can turn down dollar a piece. I had no available brooder boxes, so when she excepted them, I was ecstatic. It is HOTTTTTTTT here and Hotter at work, sucks, heavy OT, but lots of money to be had. Time and half on 6th day and on seventh day double time, can't bet making 38$ an hour for the same work.

they don't go into a coop at night?Okay, the following seems to be a nightly issue, is it ever going to get better? Lol. Or is there something I can do to alleviate the issue.
Every night at roosting time, my chickens sit on my back porch rail. My two 4 month olds and one 3 month olds squabble peck and fight to get under each other or my two other layer hens. Everyone wants to be underneath. Right now a 4 month old pullet has her wings spread out in the middle with a big roo under one wing and the 3 month pullet under the other wing. They got under her, not that she wants to do that. Anything I should do?
I know!!!!!! I just bought my house a year ago. I wish I could pick the house up and move it to some larger land area!!!!! ;D. Thankfully my mom is willing to house some of them.chicken math is right! Kaybee you know that farm you need to move to! ha ha ha!! its soon time!
no, not right now as it's so hot. I'm sure they will in winter. But won't they do the same thing in a coop or would the coop give them a more secure feeling and they wouldn't need to do that? Hmmmmm . . .they don't go into a coop at night?
Quote: IDK but we have critters here that would have them half eaten after dark!
me tooOrdering this.
