Thanks.

My Cornish X are laying!! I have a rooster (Salmon Favorolle) that is freakishly quiet, so I've put some of their eggs in the bator. If these hatch they are going to be the weirdest looking chickens, ever. What is the best way to be able to tell the Cornish X eggs from the other eggs of the same color? I tried to put food coloring in their vent (I read that on here somewhere) didn't work.

:pop I'm holding back a couple CX pullets, too. Going to put my hatchery Lorp over them.

what up with that? awwww
I don't know. I was gone since last friday and got home monday. Her butt fluff was really icky so she is the one who started my need to clean everyone. Not sure how it happened but it is pretty deep but surprisingly clean.
what is standard? they like small dark places like the rest. DH put these from walmart in it... ps I cant get the stickers off, and they are rubber like material.

Everytime I see these at Wal-Mart I think about what a great nesting box they would make. I just did not like the black as I thought it would be too dark and snakes could hide in there easier.

Mine just have a community nest box. It is just for 5 hens but it holds 5 hens at the same time. They prefer it to anything else I have tried.

I bought one also Sally but didn't get them to get in it much
However I had it hanging on a nail so maybe it was too shakey
Now its a spot upside down to put the food out of the rain. Also good to carry the old stuff out of my tractor coops to dump.Is just the right nestng size though
Now mine prefer in the center of a very large ornamental grass OH well.

I like any old nesting thing that makes hens happy. Some share, some don't. In one building, my DH recycled 2 drawers and we slide them out to gather eggs, and slide back in full of straw.

I would love to see a pic. I could see converting an old small dresser for nesting drawers. Nice idea.

get a cheap little fan. Personally, if I wasn't 100% sure, I would leave it all in one bator. Don't you have 8 days between hatches? That's plenty of time to have a hatch, move them out, clean it and have another hatch.
