Anyone have a greenhouse? Anyone ever use Aluminet? I wonder if it would hold up better than netting in the woods here with all these leaves and sticks, my netting is shot already from widow makers and I found Aluminet in a hunter green color. Guess I will add it to my research list.

Our quail are done, 21 coturnix, waiting on chukar now. CHAD better get his brooder warmed up in a day or two! somehow I went from hardly any chicks to 50 something!!!

What you need to do during the hot spells is REQUEST and offer to pay a tad more for a styro insulated box and an cold block. I just bought a big pc of 1" foam from lowes today 4x8 ft sheet to cut to fit inside my outer box and I ordered some gel ice packs reusable kinds in bulk and will offer them for extra $5. or so (didn't figure out costs yet) to add it during the summer.

OZ maybe we should add a section about hot cold and styro to that letter of request for shipping? just a note at the bottom so everyone remembers it.

Ok I'd like to introduce you to the first servicing chicks of the hatch still lots left pipping one doesn't look good it's legs rant working right ill be watching closely and update as needed.
AWESOME!! don't fret about the chick yet, perhaps you can give her save a chic or some of those infant vitamin drops without iron? electrolytes and recipes are towards the bottom of the hatching 101 article as well as the orthopedic section. Crossing fingers for her!

I am so glad its going well! So many bad hatches we hear about! I LOVE THE GOOD ONES!

i had a a lot of eggs arrive today. i got them inside pretty fast. its my biggest concern at the moment because of our heatwave. I got some jumbo show pekin eggs. They are massive. twice the weight of the welsh harlequins and rouens. 60 eggs from metzer farms. they shipped in foam inserts which I love but they have to be sized right or the foam will squeeze the eggs to hard. 4 of the jumbo pekins broke. I received 70 guinea eggs all in tact and 1 peafowl egg from 24 was damaged but they were a bit close to each other. I also got some Ameraucana eggs that were smaller than the Silkie/Sizzles. 200 eggs 5 broken. not a bad day.
