I have been hatching THE LAST of my eggs! I hatched my WFS mix, 2 brahma, one looks like it will be another splash, about 9 serama, a single cot hatched first last week, look how big already same size as wfs!
THE BATORS ARE NOW EMPTY!

ALL 4 BATORS in my house are EMPTY!! YAYYAYYAAA!!!!

(I need to clean my hatcher yet though)

I will admit I have a few eggs under the brahma broody (they were due two days ago with my hatch) last night she got off and I grabbed the entire nest box (yeah its a heavy duty cardboard fruit box, I like being able to move the broodies, it was my way of keeping her from sitting on the wrong eggs!) Anyways....I ran into the house with the box to candle. looks like 5-6 are ready to hatch so I ran them back out. I gave her the oddball brahma eggs I couldn't ship.

Most of the serama chicks are sold but I wanted to keep them another week for growth and strength, serama have tendency for pasty butt so I want to give them the probotics and vitamins that most don't give them at least for a week or two! They go this weekend though!

OMG! Chicken soap opera here tonight. I have 3 coops for the free range birds and each night they all have their favorite coop, favorite spot, and favorite snuggle buddy. Except tonight everyone was in the wrong place. I started to lock them up where they were, but Olivier the chivalrous Lav Ameraucana realized he was without his true love Mae West the Blue Marans. So I had to go sort him out. Then Riker the RIR was getting the cold shoulder and pushed out of the coop by the ladies who were waiting for Simon the Cuckoo Marans. I grabbed him and Tinkerbell the WL and stuck them alone together in the unoccupied (newest) coop which they all avoid like its the plague. Then I had to go find Simon stuck on top of the juvie coop trying to figure out how to get back to his harem, LOL! Toted them all around and got it sorted, but man - reminded me of High School, LOL!
Funny! Is like high school ...Mine do the same The gang of juvy cockrels all sleep together on top of a run and try and move them to a new coop OMG....NO WAY!!! A trio of silver brahma juvies do the same .I did move them to a coop last night
Quite a few sleep outside on top of the runs
At least 2 coops (tractors),one big covered cage and one big dog carrier to go in ..... ALL empty
.GO FIGURE!
Cute...the Part english Orp roo covers the hen with his wing and body each night and they stay on the ground under one raised coop.
Hes Big so think I need a bigger coop for him.Grown laced brahmas same. On the ground under their coop My arms got strained b/c hes a LOAD... lifting them in each night for like 4 months
Since Spring...they stay wherever they want.
Hasn't rained hard yet but when it does maybe tonite all the outdoors birds will be unhappy.

Quote: Ours are fine, just cant hold the roo, he is all business. My girls are new layers and lay well but someone is eating them and leaving me the white outer membrane that looks like turtle eggs just hatched in my run! They are absolutely stunning birds, I hadn't realized it until this past month, they would fly up and sit on the coop roof and gleam in the sun and out of all my chickens they made me just stand and stare in amazement at their plain beauty, the black green purple sheens with the bright clean white and then they have bright red half moon area behind the wattles that is amazing! I had a friend here from BYC and they flew up and he just stood there looking at them and I could tell EXACTLY what he was thinking! Then Ed was here from BYC too and the roo flew up and showed off for him too, as I was yelling at him to get down! lol

What is it I put in a blown out egg? mustard? I never blew out an egg, any tips anyone?
Why do you think I want them? I have excellent taste in chickens

But seriously, can you send me some pics of them sometime? I haven't seen yours in ages...

Oz's post is not a good as Brian's. He just said "It is o.k. I can translate (it)."

O.K. strong possibility I'll get eggs tomorrow: Muscovies...

After almost losing it at 2:30 am - our dear Bernie has a habit of letting me know we run out of supplies as we run out rather than a few days before. 50 bags of cement and 170 lengths of rebar on their way - I awoke to a txt message saying the G1 marked eggs are pipping.

G1 = guinea fowl group 1. they are 3 days early and 14 of 28 are pipped within 3 hrs of each other. No sign of the G2 pipping but on candling there are 12 viable G2. It amazes me how this can happen with a breed from one supplier while the others are normal times.
