. i keep going, but i do complain along the way. anytime i can get sympathy from DW, and a good backrub - i take it!

i do have a question for those out there who may have dealt with it.

i have a buff orp rooster who has been fortunate enough to get bumblefoot in both feet. i had noticed a while back that his feet were large, but they were the same size so the thought of bumblefoot didnt even cross my mind. i operated on the worst foot the day before yesterday - most of the pad of his foot was infected tissue. today he is walking on it without a limp again, and im thinking of doing the second foot.

i guess my questions are:
i may have to reopen both feet; im doing what i can to keep him clean, but it is by far the largest wound i have seen - am i just wasting my time, i do have a suitable replacement growing.

if would opening the second foot so quick put to much stress on the already opened foot?

Y'all are too funny, LOL! I can relate. 9 years in the Army and a broken everything at some point I think :lau Mind over matter.... just like childbirth! I really wish we could just lay an egg and stay home a few weeks to snuggle it - how cool would that be

I don't have a lot of experience with bumblefoot but I just had a hen get it in both feet. I "operated" on both at the same time. The holes I had left were not very big so just filled them with the vetericyne spray gel and used vet wrap to wrap up both feet. I then also dosed her with Tylan 50 for 5 days. I did not reoperate but cleaned and replaced bandages. So far she is doing well. I have heard of people packing the hole with antibiotic ointment. Not sure how I feel about that. Be very careful operating. Wear gloves.

snuggling sounds so much nicer than pregnancy.

Here is a pic of each of my little struggling chicks.

This one had pipped straight up through the center of the air cell which was massive and saddle shaped. There was no way it would have ever reached the shell to pip externally. So far so good with her, just waiting for her to absorb blood/yolk.

This is my poor little gasper with yolk and a foot on his head who pipped straight out the side. I don't think he's going to make it but I am still holding out some hope. He's gone very quiet now though with just the occasional gasp :(

This one has a wing and foot at the tip of her beak. She seems strong though and I think she will make it once she absorbs everything.

This one is a pretzel... She wiggles her toes at me and chirps a lot so I think she will make it.
