Your wife is spectacular pregnant. You on the other hand..................

That baby is getting closer.

Great pics Doug! Sorry you are not doing well. Hope it clears up fast. As for chicken losses why? What is going on again? Same thing as last time?

Been a couple of weeks but chicks are dying again and have been for a while. I tossed 5 last night and 7 more this morning. I had three that were showing spasms and I took them to the ditch to dispose of them and one flew back to the bunch that was eating and blended right in. Ive been treating with Corid and apple cider vinegar. I currently have a don't care attitude because of a very bad prostrate infection that has put me in the bed for the last 3 days with fever, severe pain urinating, back pain, chills, sweats, headaches, overall feeling like crap and very weak. Its all I can do to feed twice a day. All my birds are free range except for 15 BLRW and GLW's. They haven't shown any sign of sickness. I removed the Buffs from the cage and the Buffs died around the cage. I don't know if they never ate or drank or what. I suspect 45 to 50 lost birds the last two weeks. Im going to start toltrazuril today at feeding time and whatever lives will live and whatever dies goes into the ditch. IVE NEVER HAD CHICKENS DIE> Maybe one here or there but not in mass. Im not losing any that are over 4 months of age.

Anyway, I thought I would check in and I have a pic of my wife and I on my facebook page. They are showing her belly. Oct 11 is the due date. Ill try to post a couple on here.

Beautiful pics! Absolutely stunning. How is your wife doing, by the way? Enjoying the pregnancy?

Quote: She pretty uncomfortable. We got her a recliner for the bedroom so she can sleep in something to take the pressure off her belly. We are pretty excited. We have a closet full of clothes and a room full of baby stuff already. We went overboard on clothes and stuff. I doubt she will ever be able to wear them all. We have clothes from newborn to a year old. Her mom is giving her a shower because its been 13 years since her last one and this is our first. We have requested diapers and wipes because we already bought everything else you could imagine ever needing. LOL

Aww, sweet! Yes, they do grow so incredibly quick, I remember mine outgrowing his clothes overnight, just about, so it's good you have all the sizes

It's getting close now and the last few weeks are a trial. But it will be over for her soon. It's so exiting! Make sure you have loads of diapers and wipes ready, hey! Finding out in the middle of night that you ran out is no fun, trust me!

You can try, Oz. I won't complain if it works! LOL

Give me 4 or 5 breeds you want - I will see if I can get 2 of them. I reckon I can fit 15-18 eggs in a box max. If you want to propagate a breed you will need 8-12 eggs to increase chances of a breeding pair or trio.

For sure I can get
White Rocks
Silver Laced Wyandottes
New Hampshire Reds
Giant Cochin - BBS
Easter Eggers
Banty Barred Rocks

I should be able to get
Creme Legbars
Heritage Mohawk RIR
Heritage Silver Penciled Rocks
Swedish Flower Hens
Australorps

I may be able to get
Mottled Houdans
Basques

I can also get Marans but given the lower hatch rates I don't recommend them on a first run.

New Hampshires may be a good choice as a near perfect dual purpose bird. They lay good size eggs but go broody more than a RIR. I would go with White Rocks or Silver laced Wyandottes as the second bird. You can start producing sex linked golden comets or cinnamon queens once you propagate enough to make a hatchery.

Here is the deal. I will shoulder the cost of an experimental shipment. You can pay on the slow pay plan per chick if they hatch - 50% of chick sales for 18 months once they start laying eggs. You hatch every egg your family does not eat until you have a stable population. You can sell eggs from the first local generation.

I need a business on a fourth continent lol

I get Diapers through subscription at Amazon. They deliver every month with a decent discount. Add things like baby shampoo, kids toothpaste, A and D cream and the discount increases. saves hassles and gas.
