I found a little surprise this morning.

I went out to the barn and heard peeping. Sure enough, Joey managed to hatch out 2 chicks. They're adorable and Joey is one proud mama.

Now I need to decide on what to do with them. I'll probably let Joey raise them for a while and then sell them. I'd hate to take them from her right now.

Well done, Joey! She will probably wean them when they are around 6-7 weeks old. That would be a good time to tell them, unless you decide in the meantime to hang on to them...

I went out and took some quick pictures. Joey isn't exactly the prettiest of hens, but she is incredibly sweet. She's one of my miscellaneous hens that I just can't seem to give up.

Here's Joey on her nest.

Here's one of the chicks:

Sweet! As long as she's a good girl and a good mom, who cares what she looks like?

Really, an entire day with no posts? I would've never thought it possible.

So, setting another dozen tonight. Maybe I'll get a fluffbal. Who knows.
