I have no intention of building little breeding pens, I like my large hodge podge of breeds all running together......I did however go buy a couple of those square chainlink dog kennels, I bought 2 but we only set 1 up so far....I have this inside the main run for now, it is working for integrating young birds, seems to go pretty good...will make a good breeding pen also....Brian, it needed done, I wanted to do it but knew about all this, my intentions are to work through all of it and attempt to help others that wish to do the same. And I will have my CPT license so I can help in more than just paperwork and inspections.
Hear that Wingstone? When your ready you know where to find me even if its building them breeding pens!
Well, it's day 24 and egg #8 pippedThe other 7 chicks are doing very well.![]()
ETA: Hatched about 20 minutes ago. What a happy-go-lucky chick this one! Cheep-cheep "I'm happy!" sounds all the way and POP out of the egg, it laid flat on it's back for a few seconds and cheep-cheep happy sounds again.
Have you tried using mote strips? My NPIP tester told me about them, we were talking about another person having a major mite outbreak and nothing they were doing worked, they bathed and dusted all the birds, cleaned coop and hung the mite strips in front of nesting boxes and pop door, they haven't see a mite since, I bought some as a precautionary measure, as the stupid wild birds keep squeezing through my 1 inch fencing around my run.
Cochins, have you tried sevin dust? I use Karbadust here, which is the same thing and it works! One application on the chickens, then mix some with water and spray the coop down. No more bugs.
