Yes, they were shipped eggs, all the Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas had detached air cells when they arrived. I incubated them upright for the first 18 days, then laid them on their side for hatch. I believe laying on the side caused the air cell to rip in those that were detached.
The Ameraucana eggs are still in the incubator because I cant give up. The solid dark blue shelled egg I can't see in, it appears dark throughout with a solid line at the air cell and no clear area at the bottom (yolk), so I'm leaving it in (d23). Doesn't smell.
The 2 light blue shelled eggs: arrived detatched, successfully re-healed by d18 and laid on their side for hatch. Air cell ripped in both these eggs, the rip appears to have killed 1, and the other ripped 1 now has a 2nd air cell. I wish I could take good candling pictures, I keep trying but they turn out terrible you can't see anything.
This egg is so strange. It has blood vessels in it that are still red. I think they should be brown if it were dead?? It also appears that there is a 2nd air cell, in the egg with the red veins. It moved down to the lower part of the egg and it is re-sealed, when I rotate it does not move. Have you ever heard of this? Should I stop incubating this egg?
