trust me dolfi it is not fun no matter who does it, but when it needs done it needs done as oz said.
Some simply dont have it in them, for those I suggest his other option, and to make it go smoother have a game plan BEFORE you run into an issue if you cant do it quickly with snipping. I can easily see how it can "go through" some people and give the shivers, and thats ok, just so you have a backup that works for you and in the chicks best interest....
methinks cochin does the other method, coch? suggestions so everyone is prepared in the event?
Quote: I know, and I am not sure I know what I would do in that situation.... Chad lost his, I dont know the entire story, but suffering issue comes in effect at some point. In nature something would have eaten him way before now. I cannot see how one can go without feet, esp a duckie.... I can tell you this, that duck (sorry to all my other friends, love ya BUT) that duck is in the best hands he can be right now, what have you found upon researching?

From the little that I read, there isn't much to do for frostbite. Keep the area clean and dry and prevent secondary infection.
if you take one I can change it!Hey Sally, I like your hatching 101 page- but on your lockdown pic I would like to see the egg have a bit more shrink down than your egg- it may have been day 18 for that egg but I would have not have been comfortable about putting it in lock down.
