Hey coch, are you interested in re writing the paragraph/s in regards to weighing eggs in the article? I sorta push people to other links instead of pushing the weigh issue and having examples and explaining it, maybe that's a mistake? Thoughts?

Like Country girl needs to average her egg weights correct?

how do you do this with shipped and stored eggs? I am reading conflicking stuff online the range varies but the common place is 11-11.5 for hatchery loss until day 18 and then the numbers really vary from there on out, I am confused as to what reputable source to go with on the weighing! Again the fact that we dont have commercial hatchery eggs, some are shipped some are fresh some are old.... sighhhhhh I read myself into confusion all the time. If you dont have time thats fine, I am helping with the Hatchalong again and I am brain fogged again, too much in the head.

Your air cells look of good size visually day 14 and day 16 weight loss is getting high on some and not others? My guess is some eggs are a lot older in collection than others, typical.  That is one of the reason to always use ozexpats [COLOR=797774] [COLOR=B42000]++Egg Shippers Please Read++[/COLOR]  [/COLOR]letter when purchasing eggs.  If its only day 16 you may want to add just a tad more humidity. Cochins or anyone else that weighs please add input!  Most hatcheries aim for 12 per cent total weight loss from initial egg weight during the first 18 days and 13-15% to pipping (between 0.6-0.7% per day) for optimum chick quality. I have it on my list to add more information with weighing to the incubation article but I haven't gotten there yet. You are doing awesome by weighing them! I would continue with what your doing just watch you dont loose too much so be sure your weighing correctly before adjusting.  Also, have you been moving eggs to different spots in the bator throughout the incubation times?  To be sure not hot or cold spots, sometimes this can effect the weight loss and hatch times as well.  You have a fan model incubator I will assume running with that 100 degrees?  

And in zooming in, it looks like your air cells on #20 is that a saddle? so hard to tell.  I am looking and most are obvious as to the lower dip in the air cell. Again it will take your judgement with how to set some and not others for hatching.  And when you say they are dark, dark is usually meaning their is a chick filling it up!  Usually if they die at the latter stage you will be able to see a small portion of yellow around the air cell more clear than the rest and void of veining.  They are very hard to see move in the latter stage so dont fret!  You got this!   Do any of the air cells still jiggle or move?  If I cant see movement I always sniff the egg just in case its fowl, ooops foul  :lau    had to sorry!!  lol

Thanks for responding back so quick. The eggs are no longer # in order, started out with 30, I kept them with the same #'s. The first row on the right is #'s 1, 2, 3, 7, and 8, etc. as I culled clear eggs, I did move them a few times. I purchased the eggs from beggarticks farm in Kentucky. I was told that all the eggs sent were gathered fresh that morning of shipping. They have a FB page and I have messaged them a couple of times with very quick responses back. I do have quite a big difference in weight loss though. I just finished candling the eggs to look for movement in the air cells (wiggling/jiggling). The air cells all seem stable at this point. I guess my main concern is, if I lay the eggs down for lock down, when the first chicks start playing soccer ball with the rest of them, :lau are the ones with the saddle air cells going to have issues pipping and zipping? And the last egg #20 (bottom left row) does have a small saddle.

I dont worry about soccer playing, it stimulates them and makes them get a move on. And you will have to keep an eye on those specific eggs anyways...
