Sally,
My brahma hatch is now complete. Started with the 30 eggs, 20 went into lockdown, and 3 of them I wasn't sure of. Hatched 14 out of the 20!! I checked the last 6 eggs in the bator. All 6 appear to have been quitters. Haven't opened them up, but when I candled, they look like they are not formed and are at about day11+? Wonder why I had no trouble candling them now, and on day 18 they just looked dark. If they are quitters, do they just "liquify" again? I can still see dark blobs that look like they are disentagrading, into the surrounding liquid.

So I have 4 light, 4 gold laced, 4 partridge, and 2 buff/partridge brahma chicks. None of the darks hatched. :( I wanted the darks the most of course. I had to assist 2 of the chicks out. One pipped and zipped and couldn't push himself out. The other looked like the membrane was too dry and stuck to him. They are both doing well. Next dilemma, I have more eggs coming the beginning of next week, do I get more dark, and buffs because they didn't hatch as well? Decisions, decisions!! I ordered Welsummers and americauna eggs from byc sellers this time.

So I think the next hatch I will keep the humidity up at 35-40%. I think my chicks might have gotten just a little too dry this time. The egg that lost 17.4% hatched without any problems. None of my saddle shaped air cells made it.

When is your next hatch due? Best of luck on your hatch as well. What are WFBS, and CCL? What kinds of brahma chicks are you hatching? :fl

yes the veins sorta go away and its blobish inside, but not always the case later on say death at day 19-20 I pulled a bunch of the WFBS today that were like that, I was even thinking with such great white eggs I should snap a pic, but I am lazy cell upstairs me not so much lol

I am so happy for you though! I wish you would have the dark! Explain a bit more about the dark eggs, how many set, pulled and when you pulled them. and how many places where all the eggs from? did you order anything else with the darks, sorry I am so forgetful at times, I get asked alot of questions and cannot remember each in details for long anyways

I say you need to get those darks if you want them! but I also want to see the what went wrong charts and make sure your not having issues with the breeding quality and such.

I am sure others will have input on this as well. I tend to hatch alot of my own eggs now so some of that stuff I dont run into too much.

oz probably has I am sure, what a great mix of colors you have! Congrats my friend!

That is a great shipped hatch! Did they all come from the same breeder?

Yes,
They all came from Beggarticks Farm in Kentucky. They have a FB page. Wonderful people to do business with.
Had them shipped to Florida, and they were 2 days late, thanks to USPS. Thinking of ordering some more darks, and buffs.

Sally,
All of my shipped eggs came from Beggarticks Farm in Kentucky. I received 6 eggs each of dark, light, partridge, buff/partridge, and gold laced brahmas.
I started with 6 dark brahma eggs, 2 had really bad air cells, and one was a stinker. :sick
The other 3 look like they were quitters (the blobs floating around).

We're dealing with some pretty major issues here. I swear the only thing that went without mishaps this year was the chickens. And they are breeding like rabbits LOL. Baby #1 from the broody trio:
